I'm hearing so much anti vaxxer stuff lately and the government seems steadfast in ensuring the vaccines will be optional.

Weirdly the anti-vaxxers seem to be the same people who were calling for herd immunity. It's like they want people to be sick.

There's a big grey area between "anti vaxxers" and "experienced vaccine researchers" in regards of COVID. A vaccine has never been pushed this fast, and the risks are there.

Non-COVID vaccines? Yeah.

You understand that Covid is not a unique viral strain, yes? There had been Covid-based vaccine research for decades. Sure this one is tailored specifically to Covid-19, but its not like they started from scratch. Dont you work in healthcare? It seems dangerous to be spread misinformation in a health care field.

I don't necessarily believe they should be mandatory, but if you are going to refuse to vaccinate, then you should be shunned from society. No school for your kids, no work for you. If you're that scared of a vaccine then go live in the woods by yourself where you can't spread the disease the rest of us are trying to protect vulnerable people from.

There's nothing rushed about them...they're adapting an existing body of research and running trials. The Pfizer vaccine has a sample size of over 40,000 test subjects. We're seeing almost the same level of expected clinical testing as other vaccines, the Covid-19 vaccines are just expedited through the regulatory queue which makes people think its a rush job.

the vaccine was pushed out quickly because it got the necessary funding, govts went above and beyond trying to find a cure. what the govt did to tackle the threat was unprecedented, they want to end it. no vaccine has ever seen 20k test subjects, this alone speeds up the process and takes yeaaaars off development. a normal vaccine trial only has around 5k test subjects and it takes years of funding.

the covid vaccine got billions of dollars in funding and four times the trial and error. if you dig deep you'll see why it didnt take as long to develop as any other vaccine.

Agreed 100%. Schools need to start shunning these people. Give them back their fair share of education funds and let them build their own schools.

I don't think it's possible for the state to mandate that your kids go to school, then also demand control over their body autonomy in order to attend the school.

Hell there are people who would refuse the vaccine just to pull their kids from school and kids would love it

vaccine trials always have a batch of bad reactions. that isnt abrnomal. show me evidence of it being at unsafe levels. there are poele who die from taking aspirin there will always be a batch in the population who dont react well to medicine.

i see this as more of a matter of respect: i get vaccinated because i dont wanna risk spreading contagious diseases (specially possible lethal ones for some) to others, specially family and friends, not cause someone forced me to.

Its interesting how alot of the same posters crying about Trumps authoritarianism are also the same people jumping at the chance to get government to force people what to put in their bodies.

That's going way too far. People with no children, and people that send their children to private schools still pay school taxes. Antivaxxers shouldn't be exempt from it. Any additional financial burden to educate their children is their responsibility.

the ones that you need once or twice in your life, sure.
the ones you need every year? pass. maybe if they're tax funded, but still pretty much no. exceptions can be made on a case by case basis, though. mandatory for the first couple years of something new, but then optional once it won't overwhelm the system? that's a lot more defensible.

you don't need 330 million hospital beds. if the average hospital load is X, be prepared for 2X or maybe even 3X, but eventually the extra resources are wasteful except for in a once in a century emergency. it's those emergencies that we need to be smart about. have plans in place to react to them quickly, but no need to have the preparations for them implemented at all times.
