I was never willing to give it a shot in High School when it was still popular, because of the "Lol if you watch that you gay" stigma attached to it.

But is it actually a good movie?

I didn't even know the movie existed until Heath Ledger got cast for Joker but it sounds like it was a good movie. Haven't seen it yet. I'll get around to it someday.

It's pretty sad, watching these two men go through the motions of their lives, only to do what they were doing in private. I watched it in the theater, got all the way home, and broke down. It devastated me.

Tbh with ya'll, I didn't realize it was set in the 60s until last year sometime.

All I'd ever heard about it was that it was about gay cowboys, so it made sense to me that it was set in the old west.

Yes it's good. It hurts to see them struggling to cope with wanting to be together. It has one of my favorite lines in a movie ever.

Its role in pop culture has always been the object of mockery and gay jokes.

Yes it's a great movie.

It's phenomenal. The guys get the acclaim, as they deserve, but Michelle Williams gave the best performance in that movie. Also the cinematography is top notch.

It was good, yes.

It should be noted that the cowboys are not gay, but bisexual though. They both marry women. Heath Ledger's character even has children. Granted, if you know how it ends you know the in-universe characters aren't willing to make that distinction.....

It's a character study where nothing much happens with the plot outside of the relationship between said characters.

If you're into that, it's a great movie. If not, you might get bored.

It is a good movie.

Funny story, the first time I saw it was by accident. My gf at the time and I were going to see some Jennifer Aniston movie. She had the tickets and a crowded lobby waiting to be seated. When they started ushering us in, she went and I followed. Sure, I wondered why we hadn't seen Aniston yet so far into the movie, but I had no idea it was the wrong one until the 'scene' on the mountain.

no, it was a short story that got stretched into a 2+ hour movie and it really didnt need to be that long. Its been a long time since I saw it though but there are better gay movies, and better movies with Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger.

First of all, I'm adding spoilers to your post because...yeah.

And you are wrong about that because.....spoilers for the movie

Neither of those relationships were founded in love or attraction. At least not that I remember. Ennis was incredibly conflicted in his marriage and really struggled with it, to the pain of his wife. Jack's marriage was a smart move because his wife's father was rich and offered him a job/stability.

I do think that simply labeling them as gay is a bit short-sighted as we don't really know what nor does it really matter. But labeling them bisexual just for the marriages shown in the movie is a bit of a mistake.

Outstanding film.

Its pretty good, though I do get tired of the hyper masculine, self destructive sort of angle a lot of gay male romances seem to take. Theres plenty of tenderness there too though.

Its a toss up between Brokeback, and Joker being my favorite movie ever.

Seriously, give it a watch. Absolutely brilliant film.

Mmm, not sure if it fits, but I really like Closet Monster, and then maybe The Talented Mr. Ripley? (But hes also a creep) Maybe Swiss Army Man or Moonlight too? I feel like lesbian movies tend to be better in my experience, but theres good gay ones too.
