Current Events > Playing Fire Emblem 3 Houses for the 1st time. Any tips?

So I've been having a question since I first started this game and I figured why not ask now since I just came back to the Church. In the Library, why are Parts III and IV of The Book of Seiros missing in the Library? Is this just an unimportant detail or is this deliberate? I always found this fishy to me. That is some important details to just leave out. Also... if it wasn't important... why not just have Part V be Part III and end it there?

Because the game is giving off the impression that the Book of Seiros is a massive bible epic, but it didn't want to bother actually writing it.

I'm assuming its all there, you just cant read it.

What? The church is simply censoring bits that they don't want to get out, that's all. Real churches do this all the time, there are several "lost" books from the bible.

Yeah it's just a matter of not wanting to write out so much.

Though Seteth does remove books he thinks are inappropriate. So you won't find the Tome of Comely Saints there.

The Church of Seiros does censor. Just not officially sanctioned texts. They WANT those spread as much as possible, for reasons. So it's all there, this is just a matter of laziness.

Question. Do I have to be a thief only to get the ability to steal? I made myself a thief and maxed it out to get the increase in speed and the ability to pick locks. I'm pretty sure I could steal then but I never got to use it before maxing out that class and upgrading. I made Petra a Mercenary for the Strength boost then converted her to an Assassin and she can't steal either. So I'm not entirely sure how that works. I'm assuming you can steal in this game.

If you master Thief you get the ability to equip the skill steal on the unit outside of the thief class.

Oh yea. Of course. I just need to equip it. I feel so dumb lmao. I always forget I have limited skill slots

EDIT: Wow... I haven't really changed my skills out or even looked at them in a long time. I was so inefficient LMAO. Everyone just got so much better. I was looking more at Combat Arts than just the skills.

Same. I learned it earlier on when I was trying to open a chest with the main character and I couldnt eventhough I knew I unlocked it

Why do people seem to not like Bernadette that much? I mean, sure she was kind of annoying at first to some. I found it adorable TBH. However, after the time skip, everyone seemed to have significant character development. (Outside of Hubert so far) They have grown and they see the world differently. They clearly have matured as people. Even the voice lines when you select the unit in battle has character development. Its quite enjoyable.

I also hate killing formal students. Lives being lost so early. I dont get to hear how they have matured and changed. I dont get to hear their perspectives. They die and... thats it. The path is so straight forward there is no diplomacy which feels crazy to me. We spent all that time together just to pick sides and kill each other so easily? Its kinda annoying yet interesting at the same time.

Bernie doesn't have a lot of outward character growth until you dig into the supports. So unless you are doing supports for the character Bernie seems to be the same character even after the timeskip. So if you didn't like her from the jump, and you decided to not really use her she isn't going to "get better" over time. And gameplay wise, while Bernie ends up being a very decent unit, she isn't so great that people who dislike her initial character would use her despite her character, particularly in early game where she is going to struggle to do damage in comparison to a lot of her fellow students. Though Bernie is easily the best of the frail archer types (Bernie, Ignats, Ashe).

I don't dislike her, but I do wish they'd give her something so that she's not just her gimmick and you have to get through that no matter what you're approaching her about.

Also Hubert has great character depth in his supports even in White Clouds and don't really need development beyond what he already is.

I disagree about Hubert. Im not saying there is no character development. There is. However, everything revolves around Edelgard for him no matter the situation. He seems to have no personal desires. Hell, he really likes Petra because she compares to Edelgard. Its to an absurd level

I didn't say development, I said character depth. Yes, it's all about Edelgard, but they go into detail with that narrative rather than just having him simp for her cause she's a sexy anime world dominator lady.

From my recollection I especially like his supports with Dorothea in this regard.

There's a Part 1 Chapter where Shamir and Catherine are sent out on a mission with the rest of Knights of Serios. They don't appear at the monastery and they can't be tutored or used during the main chapter mission.

They can still be used for paralogues and aux battles.

Some months they're unavailable, usually on a mission storywise. Some routes they leave permanently. In your case, it's probably the former.

They may be out on a mission that month. Sometimes, they're just not around at all. So you can't instruct them and they won't be available during Explore either.

There's a few things.

Chapter 7 has acc ring and/or evasion ring depending on which class you are in.

Chapter 15 has an archer with master seal

It's also the only way to get the anti-effectiveness shields which weight 0 and grant 3 prt which is pretty good on their own.

If you have the expansion, steal is useful for gathering Trade Secrets to get the free stat boosters from the monthly quests.

During some chapters, the non-student people you can recruit are busy with missions and such and can't be instructed, interacted with on free days, or used in the monthly missions.

Question about stealing. In the earlier Fire Emblems, if an enemy had an item that would drop on defeat like a healing item, I could steal that, then the next item up would be dropping on defeat. Is this still a thing?

The nice at least is you can always unequip it when there is nothing valuable to steal. It's worthwhile to have one unit have thief mastered just for the few items you can grab and trade secrets with dlc.

I'm genuinely not sure if a situation like that even exists.

But yeah not a lot of thievery needed in TH. If on the map screen you see something you want by all means equip the thief skill on someone but you'll hardly miss anything critical.

Are Master Classes an actual in game upgrade or is if more like a lateral upgrade? I know this seems like an odd question with the obvious answer of then being an upgrade but I dont think Ive ever seen the highest level of classes in Fire Emblem being all riders. (Outside of 2) Seems strange.

The more I go on this path, the more I question if I made the right decision story wise.

There is so much bloodshed here. No attempt to compromise. Hell, I am the key piece in all of this. I'm the one that can bring all sides together to try to sort this out since I'm invaluable to everyone. We can't just talk about what the problems are and try to resolve them? I mean, just because the Church of Seiros rules the land doesn't mean they are evil. Clearly they aren't. Edelgard also has good points about what she is fighting for. However, the lack of attempted negotiations is baffling to me. There is no way we can't sit down together and sort this out. I refuse to believe it. It's overall childish when I think about it. The more I play, the more annoyed I get at this whole game with the lack of trying to do things peacefully.

I know it's more of a trope I guess but I think negotiating and bringing everyone together to fight another enemy pulling the strings from the shadows would have been better. I know it's a basic story but I would feel more satisfied than just killing everyone. The other path would probably lead to less killing of my students but lots of bloodshed none the less. Everyone just feels so immature to not be able to negotiate. It's like everyone is fighting for power and power alone. They aren't fighting for peace. They aren't fighting to appease the Goddess who wanted peace. (Based on what I currently know) They are fighting for selfish reasons disguised as honorable.

Well... that is my opinion as of going into Chapter 14's battle.

At least I know I'm on the right track with my thinking then. I'll finish this path and the other path then I'll give my full opinions. I'm assuming I don't NEED to do the Blue Lion and Golden Deer path to get a good sense of the full story, right? I'm guessing that both those paths add depth and some context to the overall narrative but isn't needed to understand the main points.
