And you know, likable. It's why I prefer Parks and Rec vastly over office, seeing characters good at their job. This scene was both awesome and funny and not overly reliant on painful cringe humor. It had a good payoff.

The Office definitely goes down hill as it goes on, they just turn their characters into caricatures that have to be even more over the top stupid/goofy/crazy than they were the season before.

There is a huuuuuge difference in characters like Michael, Kevin, and Dwight in the first couple seasons compared to the end. Same with Andy when he is first introduced, he isn't even recognizable at the end.

Most long running comedies end up with the characters being flanderized, it's almost unavoidable.

That's the scene I thought of when clicking on this topic.

It helps you realize that he's the regional manager for a reason and he likely dials his personality up a few notches because he's on camera.
