I'm looking to get a laptop that I could use for streaming. I don't really care about playing games on my computer (except for like, the equivalent of gba-level games) just want to be able to hook up a capture card and stream.

Is a laptop going to be fine for this? Do I need to get like an actual pc? What kind of specs am I looking for here

like for instance, this is p much my price range and I think it'd be fine for what I need, but I don't want to buy something and then find out it doesn't have what I need

If you truly just care about streaming old/low graphics games then just about any current laptop off the shelf that is more than just like a metallic sheet of paper for $99 will likely be fine unless you want to get fancy running a bunch of peripheral stuff while you stream, I would think.

For reference as recently as this year I streamed wii gameplay on a laptop I bought at best buy in 2013. Not with impeccable quality but just to give some perspective.

Right now with my macbook I can't even stream my browser. The specs are better than this, but I'm pretty sure catalina was just designed to use up all my cpu

I believe the short of it is that as long as you're willing to compromise on stream quality (that is, you're fine not streaming at 1080p), pretty much anything from the past decade or so with a discrete GPU will work. Less confident in saying that integrated GPUs will be good for streaming (especially on older stuff) because I have no real experience with them.

let's maybe dumb it down just in case there aren't tech geeks like me and you and explain what integrated cpu means to me
