As a general rule, don't get a game shipped to you if you actually want it the day it releases. Maybe it'll work out, but seems like a lot of the time it does not.

I honestly didn't even notice it in the demo, but I've never had a good eye for that stuff. Someone would have to point it out to me and then I'd be like "oh s***."

Frame rate seemed fine to me, both in the demo and the finished game w/ day 1 update

Haven't tried 2 player, but yeah...there's gonna be drops in quality with that. Kinda crazy how BotW had all sorts of blatant frame rate issues and it was a 97/100 "one of the best games of all time, OMG!"
But this game apparently dips at some points and it's some inexcusable flaw. The sheer anti-musou/warriors bias some people have is so crazy. All they do is try to make mountains out of mole hills.

To be fair, the style of game isn't for everyone, and crossovers like this in particular are going to attract people who want Zelda and get... something else. That's going to leave them less inclined to overlook minor flaws because they don't enjoy the rest of the game enough to do so.

It's why I'm pretty much ignoring reviews for the game (I often ignore reviews, but even more so here). I know there have been some less-than-flattering ones, but Warriors games rarely get reviewed well, and many of the things it's being criticized for are largely meaningless in the context of enjoying one.

Played some already. Haven't had time to play it too much. Though, I will have to go back to pretty much every stage to look for koroks. I think I've only found two... And that's not good...

Same. People were complaining about it, but I never noticed it. But I also played in handheld. It seemed to only do that on the tv screen. And apparently, multiplayer was atrocious...

True. Though, it isn't the first Hyrule Warriors. Which was something people mentioned. Which is why I don't think it would attract Zelda fans who just want more Zelda. They should know by now. That being said, if someone liked just BotW, that might be different. Which I mentioned somewhere else. Because if they wanted more BotW and bought this thinking it was more, they may be disappointed...

People should generally know better than to expect Zelda from HW, but this one is different in that it's telling a unique story that is going to be of interest to fans of BotW (as opposed to the first HW, which was a standalone crossover story that had nothing to do with any other Zelda games). To that end, I can see people who weren't necessarily fans of the first one (or gave it a miss because the gameplay didn't appeal to them) deciding to try AoC and being put off by the gameplay.

That said, youtube exists. If they want the story without the gameplay, it's not exactly hard to access it.

Oh yeah I'll be honest, I did not notice any framerate problems in the demo. Then again, I don't really care about that stuff in console games normally unless it's really really bad. Also I'm used to it if it is there, I played a TON of the first Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors.

Not all Zelda. But specifically for BotW. Some people who liked that game liked the lore hints in that one. Plus, it's suppose to be more of the story that the game only told a little about. Which is a little different than the other games. The whole point of this game was suppose to tell the story that you didn't get to see, but that was mentioned in the other game. And unlike other Zelda wars, this one was actually kind of important...

Eh, BotW had some interesting lore, at least, which is what AoC is meant to expand upon (and a Warriors game is a very sensible way in which to execute that). I'd say it's fair, in this case.

Huh. Wild (and the breath thereof). I guess the sentiment that this was a brilliant way to expand on BotW's lore was pretty widespread.

While being an official prequel to BotW obviously is major, I think it also helps that the first HW was a really good game, so people new to the musou series at least could see gameplay and reviews of that game and have confidence this one would be good, too.

Glad it was a huge success, Koei-Tecmo deserve it, both HW games are great and aside from their main series floundering (DW9), they've been awesome this past gen. HW 1 and 2, Samurai Warriors 4, SW: Spirit of Sanada, Warriors Orochi 3 and 4, Deception IV, Nights of Azure 1 and 2... Among many other strong titles. It's a shame the professional critics never give the company its due.

Yeah the original HW was my introduction to Musou. And while I've only played HW and FEW, I really really like what I've played, especially FEW.

I actually think it's one of the worst historical re-tellings out of the Samurai Warriors series. Like, it's great that now Masayuki is a character and they can stop having Yukimura be in battles before he was born or when he was a child. But they bungle a LOT of shit up in the latter half especially, and in some cases it's a historical event/battle that they actually depicted correctly in prior titles.

I was most looking forward to Chacha being playable, but they completely butchered like...everything about her after Odani castle. And Hideyori isn't even mentioned. The ending was ridiculous b/c it wasn't even clear why she was fighting against the Tokugawa.
And instead of the actual (supposed) historical ending of Yukimura charging into the Tokugawa main camp and forcing Ieyasu to retreat before finally succumbing to exhaustion and being slain, we get him...fighting Hitetada (sorry, but honestly who gives a fuck about him, let alone sees him as a big enough threat to be the "final boss"?), then oddly leaving after taking him down instead of like...killing the Shogun and possibly winning the battle, to go rush off...somewhere.... and later die in a secluded spot.
Also, Masayuki's chronic backstabbing disorder just to let you fight under every clan's banner at least once was fucking ridiculous.
EDIT: And after all that strategic side-changing, they didn't even keep in the historical reason that Nobuyuki sided w/ the Tokugawa -- a calculated move by Masayuki to ensure that the Sanada clan would survive no matter which side won. The one time you can show him choosing cold logic over loyalty and be 100% historically in the right, and they don't portray it that way!

I mean, I still loved the game and having the defense of the Sanada-maru made the prominent focal point was awesome and it was a lot of fun. But the glaring historical inaccuracies were grating. The last few SW titles were more accurate, and this was supposed to be THE historically accurate story-focused title in the series.

Playing any Warriors game for historical accuracy is like drinking water to get drunk.

I got to The Calamity. Two more levels opened up, and now I don't have access to the champions. This game is really neat. I like how they incorporated BotW mechanics into the Musou formula. I also unlocked Great Fairies and the Monk. I don't really like the Great Fairies. They're too big, it feels like I can't dodge. lol Kinda feels like a meme character. The Monk is fun though. I'm curious to see what other secret characters there are.

You're just behind where I am. I just finished those 2 battles. They were pretty brutally tough, don't go in under the suggested level...

I loved Great Fairy in HW1, but yeah, this one is just terrible. So big that even dodging correctly can still cause you to get hit, and if they have any i-frames, it's not nearly enough. HW1 GF was very mobile and safe w/ all her strong attacks making her invincible. Not a fan.

Do I expect complete accuracy? Of course not. But they usually are at least somewhat accurate. I'm more annoyed that Spirit of Sanada was LESS accurate than prior titles for the same events. I don't see why asking for at least the same level of accuracy as before is asking for much, especially when that game was supposed to be closer to historical accuracy by focusing on the Sanada clan and going into depth w/ them.

I'm right behind you as well then.
But maybe I shouldn't have done any of the side missions, as this game is too easy so far. Magnesis is really OP in this game.

I'm worried that there won't be much content left after the main story. Hopefully some DLC will fix that, but I doubt it.

I just unlocked the final secret character calamari ganon and he's a ton of fun

I havent use it much (except one level with Zelda). But Stasis is my go to move. It helps me to wreck WPGs. Ice is also great when in water...

People are quicker to forgive a flaw when they love most of the rest. Id say being a "warriors" style makea this game more open to criticism as not all zelda fans are gonna be a fan of the genre and someone who is a warriors fan but not a zelda fan has no reason to play it unless they just really love the genre in general.

I use Bombs the most. They're actually super helpful, b/c they damage the WPG even when it's not exposed. It feels like damn near EVERY TIME, I'll have an opening and get the foe down to one sliver of the pie left, and be super frustrated. Then I realized I could bomb them and finish the job. Bonus: some like Urbosa, the bombs will launch them into the air, where you can then get in some head shots w/ melee attacks to also damage the WPG even if not exposed. With Urbosa's bomb rune and aerial attacks, I can shave off the last 2 slivers reliably. It's saved a lot of time for me.
