Current Events > Gamestop doesn't sell new PS4 games?

I went into a local Gamestop a few days ago and I noticed they did not have any new PS4 games. I didn't check any other section since I only have PS4, but I was shocked they only had preowned games. Has anyone else seen this?

Haven't stepped in one in years. Also used to manage one a long time ago. This doesn't surprise me in the least, they had us basically forcing people to buy preowned.

I went to a gs other day and they just had the sticker on the box have the price for both.
So box on shelf is pre-owned but advertises the new price too.

How so? By opening the new copies and removing the shrink wrap?

They're probably trying to make more room in the stores for toys and clothes by only having one copy of every game on the shelf and everything else in drawers behind the counter. Sort of like how toys r us used to do it.

They have new ones just go to the counter and say you want a game. The boxes you see are just display they have them bellow the counters on a drawer

Last time I went in, I went in to get Death Stranding when it came out. They said they only ordered the 9 copies that were pre-ordered. I went to Walmart across the street and bought it.

Yeah even if it's the release date of a game, and you come to the store when the store opens, they will tell you they only had "one copy left" or something like that to try to get you to preorder games more often.

But they didn't try any of that that time. I literally just asked, got that response and said "oh...really? Alright." and left. I don't even mind their whole schtick tbh. I've only ever been open handed slapped once for not pre-ordering anything. And it was for RDR2, so I deserved it.

I have only that experience for niche games.
Once I went in on release date of Starcraft 2 legacy of the void and bought the collector edition. No pre-order.

Maybe my gamestop has better management. In the middle of a big city with a walmart in walking distance, you have to be a fool to tell customers you only order for pre-order copies of a popular release.
