all I need to reply is, "You know God is infinite, right?"

then they go silent.

It's also funny, considering athiests use the same 'infinite' reasoning to defend what came before the Big Bang, but can't seem to apply this same thing heree.

I'm not particularly religious, but I would never identify as an atheist. They're so cringe

Just thought to make this topic because I was watching a God argument video on youtube. As much as I do respect athiests for resorting to logic or at least acting like they're smart... I can't'help noticing they themselves can't realise their own logical fallacies and hypocrisy SMH

I think you mean soft and hard athiest. A hard athiest is one who vehemently *believes* no god exists whatsoever. A soft athiest sits in between and may be open-minded enough to acknowledge the god-of-gaps argument or even believe in deism.

Most down to earth atheists would respond to the question of what came before with, "I dont know".

Wasnt religion created in the first place to give an answer to where everything came from? "Where did the stars come from?" "Who created the first humans?" "Why does it rain?"

All things that could have been answered with "God did it" until we got more advanced, learned more, and knew better.

Every day the simple "God did it" explanation gets more and more out of date.

we're using a trend we see as an association fallacy.

"Just because people have used religion in this manner throughout history, it means all religion is false and therefore god does not exist."

Also it's a disassociation you're missing out on, because god does not necessarily have to be associated with religion. Deism for example, has no association to religion but is merely a philosophical position one holds.

It could be said that we just learned *how* God did it, not necessarily that he didn't do it

Nah, that's science. Religion answers the question "what do I do with my life?"
