well that's true but I think it was probably sincere

in my experience the 'sane' or 'moderate' republicans love to vent about their extremist compatriots to liberals (in private) it's like a cathartic thing for them that makes them feel less evil

That's my point. Acknowledging the myriade of issues with your party in private and then going back and acting like there is no issue in public is grifting.
