I play them for the campaigns which I usually enjoy quite a bit, with the exceptions of WW2 which was mediocre and Black Ops 3 which was straight up bad. I haven't really put decent time into the multiplayer since Ghosts. I am also pretty solid at CoD4.

I booted up Black Ops Cold War for PS5 and campaign wasn't installed yet, so I tried a couple multiplayer matches. Surprisingly I did pretty decent, got third in free for all and lost but at least went positive in Team Deathmatch. Whereas I played MW last year for a couple matches and got demolished embarrassingly badly.

I guess it seems slower paced or something? I may actually try to put some time into it. Was wondering what hardcore CoD players think of it.

I'm in love with the big fire team dirty bomb mode.

Woah, I'm actually fairly good at this so far. Did like 8 Team Deathmatch matches, won all but one and was the top score overall in all but like two. Even got the little "Play of the Game" video three times.

I know that's only one mode but me trying out the new CoD multiplayer has always been a complete dumpster fire for like the past four years.

It seems to take a while to get a kill which I think is helping me. It gives me a little while to react if I'm getting shot.

This shit is 140 gb on ps5, i won't even bother with it tbh

Yeah I can't imagine it staying on my system super long term because of this. Unless I buy an extra SSD or something.

Would buy it, but I'd have to put it on an HDD and I don't know what the game is like on an HDD (I know it made a huge difference for Battlefield).

You can cut the size significantly by deleting either MP or campaign

On terms of its quality, I haven't been able to play it; my Activision account was stolen in the last week or two and waiting for that to get resolved before I get it. Could be done this week, could take months/never happen, so that's great. But from what I've read of the changes vs. MW2019 it sounds like it can only be an improvement though

gameplay wise its actually fun unlike mw2019 but the leveling is ass because literally all the good perks/wildcards are backloaded so atm as you're leveling against the no lifers who are level 40+ you are at a massive disadvantage

Ok, I'm guessing the dreaded skill based matchmaking I've heard about kicked in. Had a 15 kill killstreak in one match and then from the next match after that it's been way more intense. I'm struggling to get 2 kills in a row now and the other players can actually aim.

It's really fucking bad in MW so that's not encouraging

Might have just been a bad couple of games because I played a few in a row which weren't bad at all. Unlocked Woods from campaign as an operator which is pretty cool.

Also I like how it shows your squad deploying into the map as an intro to the match.

No, the way skill based matchmaking works in call of duty is just completely fucked and only takes like the 5 most recent games into account

Once you start doing well consistently you'll then do shitty again for a while

I usually play campaigns before jumping into multiplayer so eh. I didn't get the new cod but my friend did. I asked if there was that dumb branched storyline shit BOII had and he said maybe based on stuff he had done and so when I looked it up and saw there was I immediately lost what little desire I had to get the game. I've been falling off for a few years but I can't be fucked to replay a campaign over and over to see all the endings anymore. Besides, Treyarc games are usually a miss for me.

I haven't seen the multiplayer yet though, but I also rarely play my consoles anymore and I'm not proficient enough with kb/m so I doubt I'll get it on pc..

Multiplayer is fun. Zombies is great too. Almost done with the campaign but Im having a blast. I think the black ops campaigns were always the best
