idk. The official rule is its always a spoiler unless its used in promotional material.

But theyre inconsistent on what promotional material actually is, and I dont pay attention to Disney marketing to know if its ever brought up >_>

I assumed it was because at least it was regulated and the predators didn't over hunt. When Scar took over he let the hyenas hunt until there was no food left. Which probably meant a lot of animals died and got eaten. Maybe Mufasa eats people's moms but Scar would eat the mom's kids too.

Elephants and hippos are literally the only ones that stand a chance. Everything else is easy pickings. Unchecked hyenas were already enough to bring pride rock to it's knees. Throw in lions, cheetahs, and krocodiles and far less animals would even escape the area.

Female lions do all the hunting.

It's even brought up in the movie.

The one aspect they failed to acknowledge is that when a male lion kills another male lion, he kills the cubs AND fucks the male's mates. (Although sometimes male lions that are related team up and split the females.)

Fighting and fucking is all nature expects from male lions.
