Everyone was black in Africa. All of humanity. And then one day people split and went "north" and others stayed behind.

The people who went north became white after thousands and thousands of years. Was this millions or thousands? Idk.

And the people who stayed behind were black.

I heard this story once as a kid. Idk if it's true.

Humanity seems to have its origins in Africa, though I dont know if its a matter of humans with black skin and features as we know them moved north and evolved the white skin and features as we know them, or if they were still more like hairy apes as they migrated north and the populations happened to evolve divergently in the separate environments concurrently.

The second one sounds more plausible. What do you mean by hairy apes though? Our human ancestors that are ape like in features but not apes right? Our cousins that aren't weren't technically full humans like Neanderthals?
