Things the 90s were good for, personally, from beginning to end of decade:
  • Got my vision repaired
  • Moved from farmland to suburbia
  • Parents married
  • Discovered music I liked
  • Began PC gaming with Ultima/Exile/Myst/SimCity/old Sierra adventure games
  • Was in decent physical shape
  • Went camping by the Jersey shore like every weekend, found I was a natural at cooking.
  • Had first loves/dates/sex that weren't typically/classically disastrous.
But on the flipside...
  • Developed my first kidney stone (that we found out, just two years ago, was gout related)
  • Was the decade I hit puberty, and man am I glad I never have to go through that again. Constant bone pains from the growth spurt, extremely awkward social situations due to uncontrollable wang and minimal sexual education (until, like, 2000)
  • First job's funds went right into paying off some dial-up AOL hourly fees i had accrued on a glorified MUD with a paywall.
  • Was involved in a church group that, while I was lucky to not be party to it, had some really fucked up unholy leadership.
  • Found I fucking loathed most teenagers, and I was very much not exempt from that loathing.

every generation sucks

all of them

life is pretty much just constantly miserable if you're an adult no matter when you're alive, unless you were born into money or otherwise so lucky

it was only 'good' because you were a kid and were allowed to experience it without metric assloads of responsibilities and debt and pressure, not to mention all the physical pain that comes with aging

if you were to go back in time right now to the 90s you would have to deal with all the same shit but you wouldn't have a smartphone or modern comforts like netflix to help you chug through it

and 10 years from now somebody will be talking about how amazing and carefree the 00s were, ten years from then the '10s... 2020 kids will probably not say anything tho lol
