Trailer Trash, Ron DeSantis is expanding the Stand Your Ground law that would allow armed citizens to LEGALLY SHOOT AND KILL anyone suspected of RIOTING and LOOTING!!

He drafted the so called "anti-mob" legislation in response of months of unrests around the country as even some peaceful protests against police brutality gave way to violence and looting but no state allows such law that would legalize the killing of any looter or rioter

He is seeking to expand the list of "forcible felonies" to justify using force against people engaged in the act as "criminal mischief" that disrupts a business

If it passes, it will widen the stand your ground law to allow citizens to use lethal force even if they don't feel their OWN safety or property is at risk

This come weeks after he vowed to crack down on violent and disorderly assemblies referencing the racial injustice of the death of black men from the hands of police that started with George Floyd

He hopes to curb those people who attempt to do so and said they could DIE without consequence of the shooter if they commit any looting or rioting

It would also allow the state to withhold funds from local governments and cities that cut police budgets

The Stand Your Ground Law has been widely panned since the death of Trayvon Martin and saw George Zimmerman walk free from the shooting

This sparked outrage from critics who called it dangerous, unconstitutional and clearly political as it allows vigilantes to justifty their murders says Denise Georges, a Miami-Dade prosecutor

She said "It allows for deth to be the punishment for property crime and that is cruel and unusual punishment. We cannot live in a lawless society where taking a life is done so casually and recklessly"

Former Democratic State Legislator, Dan Gelber said the proposal sounds like an invitation to incite violence

He speculates this was motivated by his desire to take over Trump's slot in the Republican Party and possibly run for President in 2024

So lets say you have a small group of individuals, 5 maybe. All of them armed with their AR15's. A person sees them walking down the street, and a homeowner sees them and gets it in to his head that they are going to loot his house. So he takes out his AR15s (because owning less than 5 somehow makes you less than human) and proceeds to cut the group of 5 in half. Homeowner is in no trouble at all.

No, yeah. This is a good idea. No way thousands of people aren't going to die.

As with all things, the real issue is whether or not you consider what was lost to be less, equal or greater value than what youve protected. We already effectively kill massive numbers of humans through military actions, prison, abortion and such. But we justify each in various ways to make it more palatable to our conscience. In other words, not everyone considers looters worth anything, just like many people dont consider a fetus worth anything.

If they word it to be retaliatory I could see it getting passed.

Like if you are a store owner and you are inside while someone smashed out a window and started climbing in. That could be a credible defense situation.

Or if there is a group of people on the street and they chase someone down and beat them with a weapon. That would be a situation where a life is in danger and you could step in and defend.
