Uh, yes. It is a glaring flaw.

I really don't think I should have to explain how lack of privacy options is a glaring flaw, even if it's 'by design'.

While I think that "It's designed, therefore it's not a flaw" isn't completely valid as an argument, "privacy options for posts" is something that has pros AND cons, so treating it like a flaw is dumb.

This isn't "We store your passwords in plaintext".

Like i've never been to a store where you can just go in and grab a tv and walk out.

You have to pick it out, have the rep ring you up, go pick it up at the front when you pay.

Smaller stores for large chains have less security measures, on the basis of "it's easier because there's less to keep track of".

Which is absolute bullshit. I was stand-in manage on top of filling in for cashier, on top of my normal job of senior tech, and unofficial official (we can't pay you but do this) role of loss prevention.

Fuckin' tech retail, man.

The way your Onion-like argument operates is that if you don't care enough to fix flaws or problems with your platform, they're no longer considered flaws or problems. Regardless of what results from said problems

I think its a semantics thing. Hes saying theyre not flaws as in errors that were overlooked if they were intended in the design. So something like Apple removing the headphone jack wouldnt technically be a flaw even if many people dislike the feature or lack of a feature.

like what? I've seen the smaller best buys in a mall but they only sell phones and small electronics not TVS.

and i live in a big city and havent seen a mom and pop tech store in a long time thats not computer repair and they dont sell tvs. The only thing close to it would be a camera shop and they dont leave cameras out for people to check.

The only way i can see someone steal a TV is from a display TV

Most of our more expensive tech was in lock-up, though you had fuckers come in with magnets to steal the functioning demo models. Usually what they were after was ink.

Not sure if srs. No, no, I'm not. If they leave the store nothing I can do. But, so long as they're in store it's fair game. But, if you run out the store you're gunna get arrested. We have cameras everywhere and can forward a pic to you to the local PD. If the Local PD have to go find you they're not gunna be happy.

You know, I do have to wonder about TC's store. When it comes to retail in America and shoplifting, I hear a lot that employees aren't allowed to try to stop them because it could become some kind of liability thing.

I can stop them but, when they leave the store I can't do anything. I can't and really wont chase them.. I'm not risking my life over this shit. I've had people threaten to kill me before. I always call Police over it. Like one time I had a dude pull a knife out and threaten ta gut me. I let him go and called Police. He didn't make it far before the Police picked him up. I have many of the officers on my speed dial. Bit, yes, corporate policy says once you exit the store I cant pursue. All i can do is get their license plate and call Police.

I walk around plain clothes. Change my clothes every few hours. I purposely go to work dressing like a bum. They never suspect that black dude with the baggy pants and baggy shirt is LP. Job is stressful though. I have a quota to make and if I dont make it I get in trouble. But also one bad stop (they werent stealing or I cant prove they were) is an instant termination. One mistake and you're shown the door. Always. So very stressful. My Manager is hardcore about reducing shrink and making stops. Also I have a lot of other stuff to do as well. Ah have to ensure everything is OSHA standard and make sure associates aren't stealing time or shit.

In many urban and rural areas in Ohio the cops aren't even investigating property crimes/damage under $1000. They don't have the resources anymore.

It is just one definition though. Another definition is how the speaker perceives it such as "a flawed approach". There's no design there, what's "flawed" is on the perspective of the person saying it.
