Result: After a long, drawn out, oft-bumped, once-purg'd battle, CE once again fought what they hated by saving saving what you love.
...No, there are no mistakes in that statement.

QUARTERFINALS ROUND FOUR

"How do you want to get Padme out of the picture for Episode 4?"
"Do we have to do that?"
"Not explicitly, but we're doing it anyway."
"Ok, uh... well, I just broke up with my girlfriend, so I'm thinking sadness."
"Sadness it is."

vs

"Should we address the fact that Palpatine's back?"
"Oh yeah, for sure. I have just the scene..."

at least padme's death could be somewhat poorly explained.
palpatine just appeared out of a fart without any plot buildup except for the bad guys somehow found his dna and cloned him. oh and here's this unexplained armada fleet.

They shouldve gone with the original idea for RoS and saved the Palpatine return for its own series. Sith cult wants to resurrect old fuck head is a good pitch and even though its cliche Id watch it just to see McDiarmid ham up the screen lol.

proper build up couldve made a sheev return pretty damn fun

So, real talk. I've not seen any Star Wars other than IV - VI

I just watched both those clips and they're terrible. Are the Prequels and the Sequels really that bad?
The prequels have their little interesting moments, but are generally unremarkable. The sequel trilogy is just bad movie making, like, every mistake you they teach you not to make at film school, they made in that movie.

The biggest issue with the sequels, is that they were not written as a trilogy. That's why halfay through ep 9, Palpatine just reappears out of thin air. There was no build up, no dramatic reveal, just someone saying it.

After 2.5 movies worth of time, Palpatine's return was just exposition. It's far worse thst Padmr's death, because even though it was bad, it was grounded, it was the culmination of Anakin turning into Darth Vader.

Yes the prequels had their issues, but at least it was a coherent trilogy.

The biggest problem with the sequels is that Rian Johnson says fuck you to all the build up from TFA in favor of anti-climaxes.

then with ROS is that JJ Abrams said fuck you to the direction TLJ veered into and tried to put the broken pieces of TFA back together.

the original trilogy was very patchwork (the famous plot twist in ESB was a late addition to the script) but the writers werent actively trying to undermine each other.

Prequels are bad but the stories and worlds are interesting enough that you could possibly appreciate the intent if you overlook the execution. Plus the memes. The memes are golden.

Not at all.

I blame meme culture and nerd rage culture and hive mind mentality for the negative way these movies are seen.

People I know in real life (aka people who arent obsessed with nitpicking everything to death and arent miserable internet dwellers) enjoy them all to a degree.

Or if theres something they dislike about them, they know how to express their opinions without resorting to childish hyperbole.

Palpatine being revived off screen with no explanation other than his Darth Plagueis meme line is hilariously bad
