Joe Manchin is literally an obstacle to his supposed party wielding political power in ways that would help his constituents.

I listened to him on cnn this morning and what he's actually saying is that he thinks they might tweak the TCJA

That's his pitch for why Democrats should keep the Senate (it's seriously not clear to me that is what he is actually arguing for fwiw)

it is goddamn appalling to see him lining up to announce things like this right as biden declares victory though

like, it's mostly meaningless? dems probably don't retake the senate anyway? but in the best case it seems like an attempt to piss on biden's parade

i wonder if this sort of "let's make sure we lose before we have a chance to win" thinking is a consequence of the way the senate, originally designed to counterbalance large states' dominance of the house, has instead createda complete dominance of small states
