This really doesn't reinforce your point. Depp starring in a movie brings more money in than JK Rowling having her name attached. Dude singlehandedly carried a mediocre franchise for 5 straight films, each worse than the last, but all performed extremely well at the box office. Losing Depp hurts Fantastic Beasts way more than it would if they lost Rowling who's writing for the movies isn't particularly good or special to begin with. Iirc WB owns full rights to the franchise and doesn't necessarily need her to be involved at all. Her creation has completely outgrown the need for her at this point.

I fell asleep 3 times in the theater during Dead Men lol I absolutely hated it. I'm probably not the best one to have this particular conversation with.

The original pitch for Fantastic Beasts was also way more exciting and interesting before Rowling was attached and changed it entirely.

I don't think Johnny Depp is all that much of a drawcard these days. 10 years ago? Sure. Now? Ehhh I dunno.

It's not really his fault though. Star power is no where near as important as it was 10 years ago. If anything it's franchise power these days.

I dunno man I think Depp getting paid more than Eddie Redmayne and Jude Law kinda proves that the studio thought otherwise. Even with Johnny Depp fatigue dude still kills it at the box office.
