I was just so damn excited by the new old world paired with the massive expansion of race/class combinations that came with it. Despite maining my priest all through Wrath, I immediately created a troll druid day 1 of Cata and didn't even log into my priest until I'd maxed out my druid and started grinding heroic 5 mans.

And I LOVED the difficulty of the initial 5 man heroics in Cata. People actually died in dungeons and had to coordinate. Good stuff.

Dual specialization, at last, too.

Yep, wouldn't blame anybody for loving Cata, especially pre-Dragon Soul. I also wouldn't blame anybody for loving Draenor before we found out they were canceling the second half of the expansion

Honestly if there's any value left in retail for me, it's in leveling up 1-60 zones I still haven't played since cata. I think I only went through that level range twice since they redid everything. Once with the troll druid and once with a draenei priest. Much left to be explored there.

Then there's no value as it now wants you to take a fresh level 10 to Zuldazar/Kul'Tiras and getting to level 30 (vanilla zone level cap) takes about 2 hours

And yeah banananor I can see what you're talking about - the word I was looking for I guess was symmetry, that's one of the big changes I remember from Cata was everything kind of became the same template - from classes to zones to dungeons, everything became a pallet swapped version of the same thing. It had a lot of advantages because as far as zone design went, vanilla was garbage - so many zones functionally empty to one faction, and then every character needing to spend a week in STV because there was nothing else worth doing in the 30s... Cata was a game changer there. But I hadn't thought about the ways that affected raid comp etc as I've not been in a Non-LFR since Wrath

I have been casual for two years now, but back in wrath and mop I was very into the game. Also my two favorite periods.

yep, i think being a casual is the right way to be nowadays. the optimal casual/serious hybrid for me is queueing dungeons, and then joining manual raid groups in the group finder. it's so much nicer than committing to a regular raid night

well, good news- and correct me if i'm wrong- but i think you can just talk to chromie and level up to cap in kalimdor/eastern kingdoms instead

you can, and I just went from 10-50 in Draenor which is the only content I'd never done. It was fun but I was reluctant to do it at first knowing that once you hit 50 you want to do a lot of the BFA content anyway
