When I was younger I dug .Hack, FLCL, and Big-O but like I didn't really understand why these shows would play so late at night so I wasn't able to keep up with them (I was like in the 2-3rd grade or something). Then sometime in the future I got around to watching Yu-Yu Hakusho, R. Kenshin, DBZ, and parts of Full Metal Alchemist on Toonami >_>

Got turned onto Jojo recently and thought 'man there's something else here, I dug these in my childhood but have no idea why.. this styling of character is ****ing great'.. I remember my cousin from Guatemala was like 'QUEEEEEE' when I told him I had never watched Evangelion lol

But here I am, finally - at the gateway of anime.. ready to find the milk of life

I am quite biased towards the original dub, but if you've never seen either before, I don't think the differences in the netflix dub will have a significant negative impact.

The netflix VAs are fine in normal conversation, but it's like they're all stunted when it comes to passion. When they get loud or sad, it feels forced.

I kept seeing 'evangelion' in all caps in my head like I see 'mordor' as 'MORDOR' when I think of that word so I figured I'd watch it considering it's a name I see tied to anime <_<

It functioned well as therapy.

I also just this month watched Cowboy Bebop. I'd reccomend that if you haven't seen it. Though they're opposite in terms of pacing. Evangelion is stressful, with one or two chill episodes in the entire run. Bebop is chill episodes the whole way through, with only a few intense ones. Both amazing depending on your mood

Alright now I'm gonna watch it again, but the new version on Netflix

I've heardgelion of that one alot - Samurai Champloo too, seen lots of pictures of that Trigun dude as well so I mean I'm readyegelion

I sort of spoiled some parts of the story to specifically understand why I was watching a dissertation on the final two episodes and in doing that I really was genuinely curious to see how it all plays out until it gets to that point

Seeing Dad Shinji and Son Shinji is interact is brutal lol I'm like 'wow shinji man, you went from enjoying this happy postcard from Cpt. Misatao' to this already

The loving and warm caring way that second general says '3 whole years since they've seen each other' before Shinji's Dad goes down the elevator to meet Shinji just to destroy his world >_>

Cool, I took a chance with your suggestion and finished the first ep of Bunbuster. I do see it as fitting Eva's skeleton (a Gainax production even!) I also feel that it's lacking the tone I'm looking for. I really can't describe Eva's tone other than a constant and foreboding dread. Without spoiling, is that true of Gunbuster in general? After all this is the anime style I'm fond of.
