Glad this guy did this, the game had sound issues last time I tried to play.

Game is creepy but not too much so.

Wanted top lay this since I heard it inspired one of my favorite games "Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut".

Game is pretty easy so far, maybe I should have gone with hard mode.

One of my all-time favorite games. Hope you enjoy it.

Yeah it's not a difficult game.

Is that the version where they removed all of the fog? That would make the game a lot easier.

But yea, it is not a difficult game, but the story nuances are amazing.

No no they didn't remove the fog, in fact they updated it because apparently the PC version's fog was lower resolution than the PS2 release.

Ah OK. Didn't know it was a fan project to enhance the PC version. I thought you were talking about the HD Collection.

Looks pretty cool, kind of wish I had a copy of the PC version to try it out with (I only have the PS2 version, and not even the director's cut, just the original release). Since GoG got the Metal Gear PC ports recently, maybe they will get the Silent Hill ones as well soon.

Silent Hill 2 is really meant to be examined and experienced with good headphones and a dark room, the gameplay was always a bag of garbage but the mindfuckery is unmatched

TBH, I would just download SH2 because there is no legitimate outlet from which you can still purchase the game unless you want to fork out $200+ dollars for some ones copy on ebay.

I remember it being unclear what the ending conditioned were. I wonder if anyone has gone through the code to figure out exactly what each one requires.

Enhanced Edition? First I'm hearing about this.

I have the original PS2 version with the cardboard box and post cards, but this copy seems to be glitched and keeps losing saves, so I never made much progress.

They are a bit ambiguous, but the endings are based on your actions. In other words, the endings mirror your actions throughout the game. For example:

The "Maria" ending requires you to care about Maria, by staying close to her during escort parts, or returning to her location every time she dies. Conversely, the "Leave" ending requires you to do the opposite and not show compassion for Maria. The suicide ending requires you to do things that would make your character seem suicidal, such as examining the bloody knife often or not healing yourself when low on health.

Then of course the "extra" or "joke" endings are pretty obvious, they just require you to pick up certain items or enter certain areas not normally accessible.

I don't think anyone has found the exact conditions for the main endings, but as long as you do what the ending is expecting you to you usually get it pretty regularly.

It's just what the modder that worked on it called it

I thought i was the only one playing this edition. Yes it is the definitive edition, and i would say this modder is doing what Konami should have done.

Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition is an ongoing project of enhancement packages that makes the PC version of Silent Hill 2 compatible with modern hardware and playable in a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, while improving visuals, audio, and bugs.

Examples of what Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition provides are: The use of a widescreen camera; high definition resolutions; upscaled fonts and 2D images; PlayStation 2 quality audio, fog, and shadows; restored post-processing effects; better controller support; and much more.

Made by a collaborative team of programmers, modders, and artists, the use of these enhancement packages makes for a definitive Silent Hill 2 HD experience.

Oh, I remember trying to figure out just how much of what I needed to do while getting all of them. I also revised the maps in the guide section for StarFighters76. Yet I wasn't able to determine things like how much damage to Maria was too much or what ratio of leaving her behind to staying by her was the tipping point.
