I know people like this that just cannot grasp any word that is even remotely foreign sounding, even if it uses sounds you normally use to speak every day (like the Shiori example in the video). I get not knowing how to pronounce a name when you read it for the first time, like a teacher reading attendance on the first day of school. But for fuck's sake, how are people so stupid that they are completely incapable of simply mimicking sounds when the person tells them their name? It's not that fucking complicated.

I think she's probably meant to be American. but she would be of Japanese descent. Shiori is a Japanese name.

They don't even need to add an accent when they say it, just sound it out.

I suppose I can understand not knowing which sound to use for certain letters if you've never seen the name before, but they aren't even close sometimes.
