looking like 52 or 53 republicans by my math. Montana and NC not impossible, but not looking great. MI is going completely insane tonight, so i have no idea what's going to settle out up there. Runoff in GA seems unlikely.

hurray! two more years of legislative stasis!

The race to watch is in Michigan's Senate race as John James is close to unseating incumbent Democrat Gary Peters. He would be the first GOP senator since 2001 and the how he performs in the polls could give insight into how Michigan will go for the White House.

Its more like she acts like she'll do the right thing, and doesn't. As if she gets joy from getting everyone's hopes up and then crushing them.

If they flip Michigan that's a 2+ net gain for Democratic senate seats. Also the Georgia runoff.

I'm still hopeful there's enough juice in the mail in votes to push at least two of the GA, NC and ME seats in the Dems favour.

Bullock's loss was a gut punch.

basically just quickly grabbed a couple names of slightly less insane Republican Senators in states with Democratic Governors and a reasonable chance of a Democrat winning the followup special election. i didn't dig too deeply into who might actually be the best choice.

edit: i just looked a little deeper. it's not a long list at all. Gardner is the only other name on it. and neither he or Johnson are particularly appealing.

it's moot if the republicans get to 52, though.

If he can convince one to flip parties then it's 50/50 with Kamala tie breaker.
