Most seasons are pretty thoroughly re-written for America. I can see Japan willing a to see a different story.

i know that the SPD dub got the original Dekaranger actors to voice their corresponding characters.

I have no idea how popular these dubs are though. Anecdotally. Ive heard theyre mostly relegated to small local channels.

i remember hearing that too, come to think of it. I mean, I guess the shows must be at least somewhat successful if they keep dubbing them. But Id be curious to see some hard data. Alas, that sort of thing doesnt seem to exist >_>

You guys would get a kick out of Akibaranger, which is essentially a parody of Super Sentai, except they occasionally shout out the American shows.

The Red and Green Ranger from MMPR show up, except their belts are in American flag colors and they're ridiculously over-the-top. Also, the Red Akibaranger's upgrade form is an anime waifu hugging him and the main villain is portrayed by a Japanese pornstar.

I'd be surprised if too many were major hits of any kind, probably ending up in the same vein as more niche anime does here: popular enough to make its money back, but only because it's cheap to bring over.

Then again, Sentai doesn't exactly break viewership ratings either. I think it's almost kept around out of tradition at this point.

Yeah. Sentai hasn't been doing well as of late, especially compared to Kamen Rider and Ultraman

yeah. Id be curious to know how the licensing for that works. Like, if they automatically have rights to derivative works made with the footage the license out, or if they relicense the Power Rangers footage back from Saban/Disney/Hasbro or whatever.

(And then theres Korea, and maybe some other countries, where they use the Power Rangers branding but just dub over the Sentai. Not sure whats going on there lol)

the main thing is toy sales these days. Even if the show doesnt do well theyll keep making them if the toys sell. But I also heard those werent doing so hot. Curious to see if Kiramager turned things around. The show itself is certainly great <_<

First thing that strikes me when I hear this with Japanese voices. Holy crap what a departure from the usual Sentai sound the PR OST was. Its like the difference between the DBZ original and Faulconer OST. >_>

Second is how weird it is to see that scene, knowing the context, but having Daizyujin muted. <_<
