I teach 7th grade. It honestly depends on your school site. Ive also had years where everything went swimmingly and years where its a bit tough. Id average it as a 6/10.

My first year teaching I taught 7th graders and it was awful. I wasn't asked back lol.

Haven't really had significant classroom management issues since then though.

A lot of teachers teach for one year and then you never see them again, so probably

Not really.

I say that as a 5th grade teacher who has taught middle school as well.

It's still concerning that you are an educator.

You can still control most middle schoolers. I have no idea why anyone would want to teach high school though.

I've always kind of been interested in teaching but I think I would suck at classroom management. Ideally I'd want to teach like AP high school classes but I imagine only teachers with seniority or proven skill get those.

I'd imagine teaching middle school to be like a 7/10 difficulty.

I've considered looking for private school HS teaching jobs, tbh. Seems like a low stress alternative and with a PhD i can probably leverage a decent salary.

Mostly fantasizing during stressful weeks though.

8/10

My mom has been teaching 6th grade for almost 30 years now. The horror stories she's told me are just...indescribable. Especially this past year with all the online teaching. There's kids literally acting like they don't know how to log in so that they can waste class time and get out of doing work. Most of the students know more about computers than the damn teachers do, so they think they can get away with stupid shit like that. The sad part is that they're usually right, and there won't be any consequences for doing it. It's infuriating.

I think a lot of people have a warped view of middle school because when you are in middle school you are going through a lot of changes and you look back at it as an awkward and bad time in your life, when in reality it's not that bad and the kids aren't that bad.

That is really relevant. When I was a kid, attractive women or men always had an easier time. Always.

Absolutely. All teaching is, especially of children.

And yeah middle school would definitely be the worst bracket of students. My girlfriend teaches 9th and 10th graders and the difference between even those two age groups is massive.

I worked at an "at risk" school teaching music after school.. I'd say it was a 6/10.

I found it easier to work with kids K-2 teaching a program called Scratch lol

Very gratifying experiences though.. wonder what it's like to teach High Schoolers tbh

Been a middle school teacher for about 10 years.

For the most part it's been great. I could never do elementary and don't know if I would ever go back to high school teaching.

Teaching k-12 with a well behaved class is like a 4/10 in difficulty

Teaching k-12 with a tough class is like an 8/10 in difficulty
Even with a well behaved class youre still working afternoons and weekends, at least until youre very established and have a huge backlog of material to draw from
