What would you buy them?

They have a basic cat tree, basic bed, basic toys, basic dry food and basic wet food, all their vet stuff already done.

Like if it was a house maybe build a backyard shed or outdoor-indoor area for it but...idk.

If there's one thing the last 18 years of cat ownership has taught me, it's that no matter how much you spend on a new toy for them, they'll ignore it and play with a 5 cent hair elastic. If vet bills are out of the question, the $1000 is going toward as much food as I can stockpile without worrying about expiration dates, maybe spending some of what's left on some reasonable toys/beds and giving up any remainder. The only one that uses the cat tree seems to be pretty happy with it already, so I don't think I'd bother buying a new one (I also have nowhere to put anything much bigger). If vet bills are permitted, they both need dental cleanings and that's really expensive, so it'll go toward that instead.

If you have a deck/porch I'd get a cation or even a chicken coop they can romp around in safely while still getting fresh air.

Can confirm. Cat pretty much ignored the toy I just got the other day.
