As Kevin McCallister's brother, Buzz said in Home Alone "It's pretty cool you didn't burn the house down"..and leaving the stove or oven on is one of the major reasons why someone's house is burnt to a crisp because someone forgot to turn off the stove/oven when it's cooking something...generally someone starts cooking and goes to bed which is the worst..or someone forgot to check on their food while busy doing something else and lost track of time.

Are you one of those people?

I've forgot to turn it off after taking something out a few times, but I don't recall leaving something in there to burn up.

Yeah I left mine on once after I had taken the food out and didnt notice until the next morning. Nothing burnt or damaged

I usually try to avoid using my stove after I reach a certain level of drunkenness.

I worked with a girl who would heat her apartment by leaving the oven on and open at night

When i was like 13 or something my dad started makimg hardboiled eggs at night then forgot about them. They boiled ALL night. That stench still haunts me sometimes.

Yeah this, if I want to cook something i'll usually go for the air fryer because it auto shuts off when the time runs out like a microwave, so if I pass out or forget about it, no harm and no fire.

I heard some guy on a podcast tell a story about a fiends brother who got drunk and wanted to fry chicken fingers. He never did it before and thought oil needed to boil like water. He cranked it so high when the frozen chicken hit the oil it exploded.

sleep no, but i remember i used to forget the stove when im focused in the game way back then when i live alone.
well maybe still happening these days, but now i have someone else to turn off the stove or reminding me of it.

I've definitely forgot about leaving a burner on when I'm done cooking, but they're aren't gas stoves or anything, so it's no biggie.

I was seasoning my cast iron pan, but forgot about it so left it on the stove for a good 2 hours. My pan got ruined :(

Never fell asleep though.
