Much more common than you would think. Been in similar situations myself in the past when had less control over depression and known plenty of friends (of all genders) who have done something. Sex, drugs, booze, all things to escape and feel something different and all work remarkably well for that moment which is why they are all often used.

Tbh the title didn't even really match the content of the article. It was just describing how random sex acts were a symptom her depression, and ultimately she stopped when she was in a better place.
