So far it's not a very bad infestation, caught them pretty early. I've destroyed every nest in every little crack and crevasse I could find but I'm sure there's more bugs/eggs somewhere.

Ugh, gonna have to get an exterminator soon. Which will of course be an arm and a leg lol

Anyone here dealt with this before and have any tips for DIY solutions, at least in the meantime until I can get an exterminator?

So far flooding their nests with hand sanitizer and spraying the all fuck out of them with rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle is the only way I've been able to go to war with these little assholes

I had a family member move into an apartment complex and they had been there already, it was a 5 month battle and a dozen exterminator visits and he just broke his lease and left because it still wasn't resolved.

They are horrible, nasty things and very hard to eradicate. They die in high heat, and i've heard of a method of using a hair dryer on the highest heat setting and going over your bed, especially the sides and crevices before going to bed, it will kill a lot of them and minimize bites.

You can use diatomaceous earth. Good luck you're gonna need it

exterminator is your best bet. diy is tough without some very specific dusts and sprays. try to get a exterminator that does heat treatment. those seem to be the best now.

Depending on where they are at, go get bed and pillow covers immediately, push your bed and headboard away from the wall and put the legs and old Tupperware bowls.

Order or go get diatomaceous earth and spread all around the areas.

Remove all wall hangings and any other place that has clutter and seal them in ziploc bags.

Im not familiar with getting rid of bed bugs but would an option be to throw away the mattress and buy a new one?

Only after you know they are gone for good.

one time I was renting a room from a woman and two guys rented the one across me. they brought in bed bugs and it became a whole spat between the woman and them. she had to hire someone to do multiple heat treatments, raising the temperature well over 100 degrees F. It was July and there was no AC so I just melted when I got back each day.

We had them awhile back. Hired an exterminator to heat up the bedroom and it worked quite well. He's now our year round exterminator.

It took us like two years to finally rid our selves of bed bugs. Their eggs can be anywhere.

From my understanding the only way to eradicate them completely is with heat treatment, aka cooking the inside of your house.

Take them down swiftly. I think it costs around $800 for heat treatment.

I got bedbugs once a few years ago. Mom told me to wash my walls and floor with some purple cleaning product my mom usually uses for mopping, and wipe down my mattress and boxspring with it and soak the corners of the mattress cuz there's flaps that I can't really get under.

Never had bedbugs again. But I honestly think it was just a miracle that it worked.

Kinda funny part is I grew up having to sleep on mattresses and couches we got from behind dumpsters and never had a problem. Only got it when we moved to a new place and got a new mattress.

First off, you didn't catch it early. If you're at the point where you're seeing what could be described as "nests," then you're deep in the shit now. I managed to finally get rid of them without paying for an exterminator, but it took a lot of diligence.

This. This shit is your new best friend. Get you a 20 pound bag of the food-grade stuff, it's pretty cheap. Sprinkle it all over the fucking place. In your bed frame, under your mattress, on your box frame, under the bed, under the couch cushions. Get a squeeze bottle with a pointed tip (I used a generic ketchup bottle) and spray that shit into all the cracks and crevices of all your furniture, baseboards, and walls. Any location in which a person parks their ass for an extended period of time needs to have DE in the vicinity because that's where the bedbugs are going to set up shop. DE is non-toxic so it won't harm your pets or anything, the only thing to worry about is breathing it in.

Get a zippered bed cover to completely seal up the mattress and box spring. If you have any sense, you'll never take it off again.

As someone above said, move your furniture away from your walls. This includes things like sheets and bedcovers. If any of your furniture has legs, stick those legs in a bowl with DE in it. The DE will eventually kill them, but they also sell things called interceptor traps if you want to make absolutely sure they can't walk up the legs.

Immediately wash all of your clothes, sheets, etc. I never went this extreme, but you can buy big ziplock bags or totes to keep them in.

Vacuum a lot. Immediately empty the vacuum and immediately throw out whatever you emptied it into.

If possible, find out where you got them. If it's something like used furniture, that's fine, but you could be picking them up from work or someone else's house. You want don't want to get rid of them, then bring them back into the house.
