Shitty as he is, we do need to do more to stop letting prisoners do this to one another. Ain't no justice if we allow prisoners to dictate the terms of it inside jail.

This is how I see it. I realize people are in prison for a reason and it's easy to not give a shit, but whenever I hear about this sort of thing happening I see it the same as I see a mismanaged zoo letting animals fight and kill each other.

Not only does this sort of thing not help with people's rehabilitation, but it is also costly. There's medical bills, and now there's gonna have to be an investigation, court fees, attorney fees, etc, costs that get passed onto the public in general.

I don't see the value in knowing that somebody got the shit beat out of them. What sort of verifiable good does it do?

Prison has its own justice system and it can be wonderful.

Actual paedophiles (those who have harmed children) likely can't do much rehabilitation, but unless you plan to lock everyone forever, then they need to be taught to overcome whatever the issue was that saw them put in jail so they can interact with society safely afterwards.

The death penalty doesn't work in stopping people commit crimes, costs more and has a very real chance of innocent people being killed when you have such corruption in the justice system, faulty evidence, or even just accidents.

the usa has a justice system for a reason, inamtes can and should be punished for violence against other inmates, regaedless of the crime

Over time a lot of people get their convictions overturned. Sometimes it takes years. That's why rushing to execute people isn't a good idea.
