A massachusetts based organization I've been collaborating with to do research on the health implications of anti poverty policies wants me to talk about how I use our work to influence policy change on the ground.

They are giving her an award for being a good advocate on these issues and my testimony would be part of the ceremony

And it's gonna be on my 31st birthday

Nah it's just a zoom thing. I think if it weren't for covid they'd probably fly me out, but I wouldn't want to do that on my bday anyway tbh (though potentially meeting the congressperson would be tempting)

The public speaking stuff is actually my least favorite part. I always get nervous before interviews and stuff. I do like the chance to do these kinda things though

Maybe a dumb question but do you have any designs on an elected office?

Always see ya mentioning state politics and working with policy groups and whatnot. Not that any of that leads to it per se but seems like you'd have a decent springboard

I could maybe see myself running for city council some day but I'd honestly rather work for a politician as a policy advisor or city manager than be one
