Made a post and it deleted it instantly (Hit post and it told me it was deleted right after loading). Love to see a message board moderate people before the post without checking it to any degree.

for those of you bitching about Gfaqs mods, at least they wait to judge instead of just deciding "NOPE, YOU'RE NOT COOL ENOUGH!"

Imgur's community is very similar. For as positive as many of the upvoted posts are, I get the vibe that the community is extremely toxic. Though I'm sure the same could be said about any online platform <_<

it was AITA and the role I broke was not posting "AITA" first, even though the title is: "AITA for not cooking my roommates dinner". in other words; it was an auto-mod issue. I got it shoved through, but wtf dude.

I did though, thats the thing. the rule was "Start with AITA, WIBTA". My post started with AITA. there was literally no discrepancy.

I don't even bother with Imgur's community. It's strictly an image-uploading site to me, and I personally feel it was better before it started being Reddit-lite.

didn't think of that; that's fair. Happens here, so why not. Just... annoying when trying to get an answer for something problematic in ones life. kinda like watching and ad before a CPR video; not the same, but annoying all the same.

Even after reading the rules in each of the subreddits I frequent - whenever I try to post a damn topic it gets modded for some shitty reason. Now I dont bother anymore. Some are so ridiculously strict. Sometimes you just want to strike a conversation about something without having to over think your topic title, or change the wording.

I've found that some subreddits are just really petty with their rules (ELI5 is a good example, sometimes Mildly Interesting), but for the most part my experience with mods there has been positive.

Examples:

• I post on Casual Conversation relatively often. Was dumb, got baited by a troll, lost my temper, said some mean things. Moderators banned me outright. I apologized, accepted their decision but requested that they review my posting history to confirm that I rarely, if ever, act out like that. The moderator got back to me within an hour and agreed that I was just overreacting to a troll post and reduced the ban to a 7 day suspension.
• On one post I gave information that is accurate and fair but some people apparently disagreed with it. The moderator responded that, "As a mod I have to just say responses here are supposed to be helpful to people and not misleading". Honestly don't know why people disagreed with my comment when I had legitimate links to active references and wasn't just making shit up, but regardless I just went ahead and deleted the comment myself. Guy wasn't a dick about it though.

Other times I've assumed the rules and got modded and asked the moderators to explain why/how I could formulate my posts better in the future and they mostly gave me positive responses.

The only one I'm bitter about is Mildly Interesting. They have a "no screenshots" rule. I saw a Russian bank app that lets you verify the authenticity of a Ruble bill by scanning it with the camera... ALSO the image on the bill "comes alive" (they have a spaceship launchpad on one note and when you use the video camera it shows a 3D rocket launching upward. Or a bridge - the camera adds traffic and ships and stuff). So I took a picture, framed it in a way that captured the actual banknote *and* the screen of the other phone so you could see what it was doing... and it got modded because "no screenshots" -_-. Fuck them.

Also really just procrastinating on work right now lol.
