Did a quick, easy shot today because I had a round of laser resurfacing done on the face yesterday and I'm SO sleepy because of it (or at least I think that's what caused it) I'm sleepy though.

Yeah, I take a lot of inspiration from art styles like Animal Crossing or Wind Waker. I love those kinds of eyes. Theyve got so much potential for expression.

Yeahhhh my mom was one of those moms who forced me to take pictures of me and my family doing EVERYTHING and there was this whole 'image' I had to adhere to growing up for the sake of others. I guess it was all part of the experience of immigrants really making a better life and trying to memorialize it (which is how I understand it now) through social status but man I just hated it.. took me forever to even start liking the idea of shopping for clothes that looked nice for me or for me to even care about how I look

Just not a fun time lol but Dhalia<3

Thanks! I almost always use Flash to animate, simply because I'm used to it (I've been using it for like 15 years) and seeing that I've used it for so long, I have a ton of objects and different elements I'm able to reuse in later projects too. I've done one short entirely in Photoshop and Premiere though (Self Portrait). I posted that one earlier in the topic. I decided to take that route with that one just to familiarize myself with the process, and also because I wanted it to look really sketchy and handmade.

Yeah, I hated both pictures and clothes shopping growing up. I hated pictures so much that I opted not to turn in my picture to the yearbook my senior year of high school. In hindsight, I made the right choice.

I actually have a copy of Manga Studio on my computer, but I've never really used it outside of setting up tricky poses every once in a while. I didn't know you could animate in it though. I should put in some effort to learn a bit more about it at some point.

My main gripe about working in Photoshop for animation is that you can't do any camera movements, and that there's a lot more time investment when it comes to making sure look just right. I'm someone who likes to edit things over and over constantly, so I really had to learn how to adapt to a different approach when I was using it.

Not anytime recently. If you recall me doing 3D work you either saw me arguing with trolls on the Sword and Shield boards (Various people not knowing how 3D Modeling works speaking from a position of authority on it) or you saw my Isabelle animation on the New Horizons board and I demonstrated how I used 3D Modeling to compose her room and map out her hair animation.

I don't mess with 3D much. I was trying to learn it briefly for the purpose of game development but I quickly realized that was a dead-end for me. Solo Dev wouldn't work for the projects I want to make, so I switched to 2D animation. I won't post any of it in your thread without explicit permission though, since I don't want to appear as though I'm hijacking it for myself, hah.

Nice animation, I enjoyed the little 'puff' of breath. Good voice work too, is that you or did you hire someone? (I think I've seen you mention doing open calls on New Grounds or something)

It must've been someone else, but I'd love to take a look at some of your work! I always like seeing other people's stuff. It's inspiring. And I'm not territorial

And thanks! Yeah, that's someone I hired for the part. She does a much better job than I'd ever be capable of.

Most of my art is wip / sketches I didn't feel worth sharing. I put my finished / good drawings into an album. First one is an animation. The rest are drawings I've made slightly ranked by how much I like them. Style jumps all over the place because I don't know what I want yet. Sorry for Furry if that's not your thing.

The stories I mostly want to tell typically involve fighting and magic, so their designs reflect that, and I got kind of obsessed with trying to perfect the white rabbit for a while but couldn't decide on anything concrete. I have next to zero experience doing backgrounds, they're kind of daunting since I look at anime BGs and I'm just like "whut".

heh that's really cool, really like the amount of movement there.. the blurriness on the TV makes it look like there's something that wants to move in real time on the big screen :D

And yeah, I do have stories for them. So there's 3 white rabbits. I uhm, seem to have a type. Ribbon with Pink Eyes is a lonely girl whose father is a wolf and mother is a rabbit. Which makes her a "Chimera", though she doesn't look it. She endures a lot of abuse because of that. I want to tell a story using her and her journey to find acceptance and friendship. The red-eyed one without a ribbon is just a shounen action girl. She wants to be strong and tough like the heroes she's read stories about. These two were originally one character, but the story there was kind of a mess so I split them up. The action girl lost a lot of significant story elements in the process so she needs a rewrite. The robot is a mystery. The tech level of the world these characters share is not high enough for robots, so she wants to figure out where she comes from and why she was made.

Talia doesn't have a backstory, all I know about her is that she has blood powers and does vigilante type stuff. The world hates demons but it doesn't stop her from trying to help people. Demons tend to have "scary" magic which is part of the prejudice. The cat with a knife I haven't finalized. I know she uses wind attribute magic as a speed boost and she's a thief. I've been playing with the idea that she's escaped some kind of cult and had to learn to live on her own, but I'm not sure. The horned girl with the hammer and the boy with the book are retired. I couldn't come up with stories for them. The lizard girl is an Oracle / Shaman who uses bells to commune with spirits. In essence, she's a geomancer.

Thanks a bunch! Yeah the ears are big because like, on real rabbits they can be as large as their whole head. Sometimes larger. I wanted to highlight that. I should probably draw more humans though.

(My Roscoe has a backstory where he hacked up his lover and buried them in the backyard, complete with headstone, items of clothing, and bloodstains on the ground.)

I think you were able to do that, the voice acting is really compelling but the inner dialogue I think really is the meat and the potaters of the vehicle moving here

More than just the words, its the phrasing of the characters franticness in thinking of their life that makes it very feel real and very human

Thanks! And I LOVED that movie. One of my very favorites from last year. The way it incorporates the behind the scenes craft into the animation itself is something pretty incredible to see in motion.

Ive always loved it too, but Ive never been able to commit to it myself. Right now is probably the most Ive ever used a notebook to sketch. (I stole it from my boyfriend, so Ill post the one sketch he made in it before he let me have it for the sake of some filler content. He wouldnt mind)

Really liking the eye lids top right and that face structure.. so much power(??) the characters composure

Really impressed by how you guys get proportions right and the way the bodies look like when theyre doing an action.. you guys always seem to nail that and for someone who cant draw or sketch it definitely is something for me that I admire lots

He's way better than me if I'm being honest, but we have wildly different styles. He's obsessed with bright colors, rainbows, and iridescence, and I tend to make everything as muted and pastel as possible.

We met online a little over a year and a half ago and went out for a picnic on our first date.

Definitely not amazing, haha. I've technically done a LITTLE animation since the weekend now, but it's not exciting enough to bother with a post. I'm like halfway done with this thing at this point though!

That's how he draws just about everyone. He loves drawing these elegant, dignified older women with these very defined facial features. (or young men with very feminine features) Uh, I'll post ONE of his finished pieces if you're curious. It's one he drew of me a while back.
