I gotta say 64 was one of my favorites of all time, but after replaying it on the Switch I have to say nostalgia plays a huge factor. The camera is fucking trash. I lost so many lives because the camera just randomly decided to rotate at the wrong time and I missed a jump or even just walked off the edge.

Id say that Galaxy had the worst camera of the four games. Yes, worse than 64. Sunshine was the most inconsistent and Yoshi was absolute garbage in that game. 64 is definitely the most dated, but Id rank it second behind the perfext that is Odyssey.

Game is utter trash and outside of it being the first 3D Mario game, I dont get why its praised by damn near everyone from people in the gaming industry to gamers.

Lol I knew it was exactly gonna be this one. Lots of talking about feelings, blowing up little things people don't care about on a normal playthrough, showing non-awareness of certain moves that would make his complaints less so, saying something is a bad mechanic and then do an extremely one-sided explanation of why something is bad by focusing only on the bad and conveniently leaving out anything that could justify it, even though everything usually has goods and bads

Then squeeze it out to 2 hrs cuz what's editing? Get a ton of attention and likes because it's 2 hrs, and surely that means it has to be right, not it's filled with ton of inconsistencies and narratives filled with fallacies

Its a weird feeling: I agree with everything said in the video, but I also objectively did love the game on my first play through.
I think, though, that its the type of game thats only fun if youre doing a run from scratch, rather than something like Sunshine/Galaxy where you can have your completed save file and replay any level you want

Not watching a two-hour video during work, but I'm fairly sure the Moons were designed to be simple to find to benefit the handheld philosophy of "feeling like you're making progress even if only playing for a few minutes." Every single Moon doesn't have to be painstakingly analyzed to come to this conclusion.

Just in general though I've lost my patience over many analysis videos that don't get their point made within an hour, so I'm probably not gonna end up watching it.

Trying to find the worst game in a series where games rarely fall below an 8/10 is a pointless exercise.

Video is wrong. Odyssey is objectively the best 3D Mario.

I only watched 30 minutes but I just gotta say I disagree with his main point here. The level be design in Odyssey is among the best in any 3D game.

1. Sure Cloud Kingdom and Ruined kingdom are tiny with little content but they're the boss levels. The fact that they have any content at all besides the boss is, itself, a huge deal. When you defeated Bowser in one of the boss stages in 64, there was no reason to ever go back there ever again. Hell, even if you put an extra star in there, there wasn't anything to do either as the bowser levels were linear as hell. They were almost the challenge rooms in odyssey except odyssey has more of them and each of which needing different movement tricks to get through them.
2. In terms of the segmenting of the levels, Odyssey is far better about this than any previous game as well. If you selected a star in Galaxy, you had to get that star. Things you needed to get the other stars simply didn't exist in most cases unless you exited and went back in.
3. Furthermore you have got to have a pretty bad memory to think the levels are the same size as 64. Even a small stage like Lost Kingdom is far larger than Bob-omb Battlefield.
4. You can spin the cap without motion controls. Just needs a 360 input like a spinning pile driver.

And here I thought ocarina of time on the 3ds felt dated since its the first n64 port/remake I've ever played. But this shit is goddamn awful.
