I mean I was and mentally still am one as well, just been out of the actual reading game for a few years since I can't afford to buy weeklies and I hate reading digital, which is why I need to known exactly where this nonsense page came from so I can know who exactly I need to hate.

I can't speak for the second one but the first Metal was a glorious self-referential mess that was intentionally trying to be as ridiculous as possible so I wouldn't take it seriously. Snyder can get hacky but this is deliberate

Yeah, unless something's been retconned, it really looks like he just looked at this panel without actually reading the whole comic and assumed the Omega Beams came out of the gun and that Darkseid is dropping it.

It's not exactly parody, it's just tongue-in-cheek. Everything bad and good about comics continuity at once.

I didn't catch the thing about the gun though. That and the repeated text bubble definitely appears to be errors no one caught.
