I'm just finishing ep 2.

Enjoying it so far. But the ending of this episode is irritating. Deciding to start playing hide and seek in a giant spooky mansion in utter darkness. Creepy silhouettes in the background.

YAWWWWWN.

I loved Hill House and I'm begging this to have been worth the wait.

Considering how highly rated it is already, Id wager yes. Episode 5 has been the best one so far, IMO. It continues with the character building though so if you didnt enjoy that, you wont enjoy the next few episodes.

I find this kind of slowburn to be much more palatable than something like The Witch or Hereditary. Both films had amazing finales but almost everything leading up to it put me to sleep.

Bly has really good pacing and character developments. Its not quite as spooky as Hill House but fills the void with an interesting story.

after episode 4, I'm assuming the housekeeper is some kinda ghost and the boy is possessed by the one dude who worked for the uncle

I don't know if I like Victoria Pedretti. She's a little too spunky. I had the same problem with her in You. Tone it down just a touch.

I did like her as Nell in Hill House, but her character was supposed to be an emotionally distant shell of a girl so the spunky shtick wouldn't have made sense.

I made the same prediction. I didn't predict it was Nells brother though, just another adult male.

Fell asleep at the end of ep 3 because I was very drunk last night but also cuz it was kinda boring. Ngl I don't think this season has the same magic as the first. I'll finish it though.

I think I liked Hill House more overall, but enjoyed this too and they're a fair bit different. Bly Manor was less about trying to scare you.

Yeah, I just watched ep 3 and it was pretty boring.

I still maintain the funeral episode of Hill House is one of the best TV episodes I've ever seen.

Gonna start ep 4 of Bly Manor now. If the series ends up half as good as Hill House, I'll be happy.

I liked it, I do wonder if another episode may have let some stuff get a bit more fleshed out however.

That said the weird turn around from a spooky show to a sad one with the final ending was weird. Almost cried, didn't qute.

I think I like Hill House better but other than a spooky building they were trying to do different things in the end. Hill House was a lot less predictable, I think.

I started watching it for the 2nd time a few days ago, the first episode is definitely a drag, might even say the same about the 2nd. It starts developing a lot and picking up pace by the 3rd and I remember from my first watch that like 4 through 7 were fantastic. You should give it another shot.

Just finished it. Complete tonal shift the last episode was totally jarring. That being said I still love the show really. If hill house was a 10/10, this is a solid 8.

I also had to immediately watch the first few minutes of episode 1 to catch certain dialogue and all that to ease nitpick and inaccuracies

Just started episode 5. Hill House was definitely creepier, but Bly is really good, and the slow burn character building is very nice. Something both series have done really well.

I'm interested to see what Haunted House will be the focus in season 3. I would love to see Flanagan do a take on Rose Red.

Just finished. I don't think I liked this one.

I won't entirely compare to Haunting of Hill House because that might be lightning in a bottle but until parts of episode 7 and the last parts of episode 8 I didn't get any sense of the same spark that made Hill House as excellent as it was, in Bly Manor.

And this is a bit of a petty mark against Bly Manor but something that took me out of the story, the dialogue was more American English at times. And when the setting is in 1980's Britain and most of the characters are British. It sticks out.

This one was still good but I don't really care to see it again or really recommend it. Watch it or don't. Whereas with Hill House after I finished it I was suggesting it to everyone.

Episode 5 was p awesome though and things started to tie together pretty good on the last few eps.

A couple episodes later you def. can tell that it was not Miles but rather someone else possessing him. It was a nice touch though in one episode where Miles looked out the window and saw Peter Quint.. at the time I didn't put together that he was seeing a reflection of himself kinda like 'Nell' did later on with the Lady of the Lake

You know what was confusing? Hannah did drink things on a few occasions, in particular the wine at the bomb fire.

Yeah, I just finished episode 5, and I was predicting that since the first meal they had together where she left without eating. Though I didn't expect that she had only just died at that point, but her behavior makes a lot of sense in hindsight.

I liked Hill House better but Bly was OK. I think my favorite episode from Bly was the one where the history of the house with the two sisters is shown.

The last episode felt a little too American Horror Story for me tho tbh. I like AHS too but it's supposed to be campy.
