Going to go from 1-999 now instead of 1-100 and your PSN level will automatically update to reflect your new level.

EXP was also changed so that platinums give more than they did before

And once PS5 hits your level icon will change based on your level instead of just being a gold star all the time.

Their example said people in the 12-15 range should expect to now be in the 200s so its not that simple

It sounds like they're revamping the scoring system so it'll depend on the types of trophies you have.

It's change for the sake of change, but I'm fine with it.

in the current system it stops scaling after level 26 and it's always 10K exp to level up

Bronzes are worth 15
Silvers are worth 30
Golds are worth 90
Platinums are worth 180

this new system is more of a true leveling system and it'll require more and more exp to level up the higher you get and the higher emphasis on exp from platinums could drive more people in that direction instead of doing it the xbox style where your aim is to get rapid achievements points regardless if you get 1000/1000 in every game or not.

I'm still level 34, and my friends list is a combination of people who have and haven't had their level updated, so I'm confused.

Yup, and I've also tried restarting the system and resyncing my trophies. Nothing.

Changes are basically

Platinum trophies are now worth 300 trophy EXP, up from 180

The trophy level calculation is now the following:

Levels 1 - 99: 60 points (4 bronzes) per level up
Levels 100 - 199: 90 points (6 bronzes) per level up
Levels 200 - 299: 450 points (30 bronzes) per level up
Levels 300 - 399: 900 points (60 bronzes) per level up
Levels 400 - 499: 1350 points (90 bronzes) per level up
Levels 500 - 599: 1800 points (120 bronzes) per level up
Levels 600 - 699: 2250 points (150 bronzes) per level up
Levels 700 - 799: 2700 points (180 bronzes) per level up
Levels 800 - 899: 3150 points (210 bronzes) per level up
Levels 900 - 999: 3600 points (240 bronzes) per level up

It takes a total of 1,631,340 trophy EXP to reach level 999. The amount corresponds with where level 175 would be on the old system if it went past 100, so the cap was raised a good amount from the old system.

I was 95 EXP from 20 before the update and after the update I'm 329.

Yep.

Jumped from 26 to 395

Synced on PS3 without getting any new trophies and now my PS3 has the update, but when I synced on PS4 after that, no change. Interesting.

Huh I honestly would have expected higher based on your trophy obsession. So what does that mean for someone that's already level 999? O.o

That's the people who only play the games for thier trophies and mainly stick to games that can get them all quickly

Not really because this is just the same thing I've done in every game for 30 years. Trophies just help to more easily facilitate it

But I would have played so many bad video games as a result

I never chased quantity but I suffered through pointless grinding multiplayer sessions for plats or flat out avoided good games that had bad lists (too grindy).

Eventually I got fed up with it and decided my normal view of 100% was all I needed.
