are only about the show runners going for the serial style of watching instead of the binge style. On one hand it makes sense because the first season they did release all the episodes, on the other hand it's kind of a waste to see the reviews not being about the actual show in general.

i was wondering why it only had like 3 stars on amazon

i completely understand people havin issue with the weekly release format. imo that's p anti-consumer in modern times, and it's clearly just done to spread platform engagement out over a longer time

but grow the fuck up for real

I mean Vought is practically the most anti-consumer company in the show so yeah I think it's kind of fitting lol.

But I read that it was the show runners, and not Amazon (surprisingly), that made it serialized because they wrote the episodes that way, hence why every single episodes ends on an extremely big cliffhanger, vs binge style where they assume the viewers are going to watch the next episode immediately..... so yeah you're not wrong either lol.

Serial > Binge

Had enough of binge culture

Fun to watch a show at a gradual rate with friends and the community

Why is a serial release anti consumer? The idea seems kinda odd to me.

I don't understand it at all. Services like Netflix and Amazon Prime are privilege, not a right. People should stop acting like entitled pricks.

yea i mean i wont lose sleep over it. i get why it's done. im just not a fan at all because

A. i have a shit-tastic memory so i basically forget the prior episode in the span of a week

and B. the episode recaps, meant to remind you of what's happened thus far, always always spoil the new episode

that may be too strong a phrase but it seems like it's only to the platforms benefit and the only potential way it could effect the consumers is negatively

Some people see it anti-consumer because it means you have to stay subscribed to them for at least another month to technically watch all the episodes (unless you're the patient type to wait until they all come out) and to some it feels like the platform is telling you how to view the shows instead of you deciding how to. Anways I can understand why people would have a problem with it, but I do like serialized releases because it does give me something to look forward to and it does bring out great discussions and engagement in the long run.

I guess I could see that. Idk I just feel like the people who make the show can release their content as they see fit. Seems like a weird thing to get upset over when it clearly worked with Mandalorian.

I think the other problem was that Season 1 was released with all the episodes so people were expecting it the same way with Season 2. With that said I get why people dislike it as I can see it from their perspective, I just wished the review section would be more about the show than the other misc things. Like I try to recommend this show to 2 of my coworkers, but they immediately wrote it off because they saw 3 stars on the show.

I think the argument would be they have a life.

which is really what it sounds like. Like, I binge shows, when I have nothing going on in my life at all.

So, those people probably care just as much about spoilers, they just also have a lot more to care about going on aside from one show.

Spoilers are pretty easy to avoid. Unless something is as big as MCU, Star Wars, or Game of Thrones just dont click into something about the thing you havent watched yet. Ive seen next to no The Boys discussion outside of topics/places dedicated to it.

Serial release is better than binge. Results in better discussion of the individual episodes and it makes it easier for everyone involved to be caught up.

Still a pretty bad take. The idea that people who aren't neets don't care about avoiding spoilers as much is pretty stupid. People have jobs, family, friends, and other hobbies. Just because I enjoy playing tabletop games once a week with friends doesn't mean I don't care about spoilers for The Boys. I just know that I can watch The Boys after work on Saturdays, while I can only do game day on Fridays.

Your argument is the type of shit that justifies shouting spoilers for a major release in a theater on your way out from the first showing because obviously people at the second showing didn't care as much. <_<

IDK if that'd be manageable cuz then it'd be a drip feed of reviews. I was thinking maybe reviews are an episode by episode basis and you have to have seen the episode before reviewing it. Or maybe you need to watch a certain percentage of the season before reviewing?

i wish nerds didn't freak out over stuff like this it makes anyone who agrees with their baseline opinion look like an idiot

I'm not gonna lie, I only really have like one or two days a week to watch any sort of tv and be able to pay attention it. So I'm not interested in watching in a non binge fashion. So I will just wait till they are all a available to watch. Screeching and leaving bad reviews is so fucking entitled to as to be laughable. Just shut up and wait.

I mean in terms of why people would be mad about Season 2 being serialized viewing rather than the Netflix style of binge viewing because Season 1 was released with all of its episodes from the start. I absolutely think using the rating system to make a complaint about this particular thing rather than the quality of the show is pretty petty and stupid though.... hence why I made this topic.

Its not enough to get upset about but if something is getting sent out weekly compared to having it all be available at once the former is objectively more anti-consumer than the latter, even if serial does have its perks over binging.

I think the fact that there has been far more discussion and speculation on each episode this season compared to last is a positive and shows that releasing weekly works

sitting down to start this weeks episode knowing how last weeks ended? Much more effective than just immediately jumping into the next episode

sidenote: while I dont like commercials, in a sense I kind of miss the break of commercials, because the cut to black after a significant story event was an effective storytelling technique
