Might be a silly question as TTS is one of those games, I thin, you can kinda do whatever you want in, so you'd think it'd be worth $20.

However I have no idea. So whats up with it?

the reason I ask is that I hear you can play Star Wars Epic Duels on it. People may not have experience playing that particular game, but in general is TTS worth it.

In the mean while I am going to go to work and print out 79 pages of expansion characters i'll need to cut out for use with the physical game....oh yeah

I've used it to play Red Dragon Inn and Catan, and both worked well.

Bought it alongside a few friends when it hit $10, and it was worth it for the few times we played, though I greatly prefer playing in person.

Well you can disable the feature, but if someone does flip it you can easily just hit the undo button

That's the exact same reason I've been thinking about getting it.

I'm torn on the expansion characters. We made a few when we where kids, but what made Duels so great for us, was everyone knowing everyone's deck. It added a lot of poker/psychological elements to the game.

I did a quick browse of the workshop and it looks like there are a few star wars epic duels mods for Tabletop Simulator. Personally I like it because it has a great 1v1 table for magic the gathering.

Well i got TTS. I really feel like this ain't gonna compare to in person eveb if id be using cheap printer paper cutout cards for expansion characters.

But i need some time to learn the TTS mechanics but it seems like a PITA though i may be speaking too soon.

okay upon second thought the mechanics aren't that difficult to get a hang of.

yea it isn't like in person table gaming, but virtual tables are very handy when it's difficult to get together in person.

I think this will ultimately be fun. What I think will initially annoy me is that this is a sandbox, so while you can play Epic Duels on it(or 5,000 other games), it isn't designed for that specifically so the game doesn't do anything for you. Like if I attack, we need to calculate damage, move damage counters, and physically remove character figure from the map if they die. Whereas, say, any yu-gi-oh game that is standalone knows all of that. the game itself figures out damage, removes the card if a monster dies, etc.

I am overthinking this, but I think this will work out alright. especially since my buddy just had a coworker get sick today(no idea if its rona or something) so I have decided for the time being to not hang out with him, so this will be our only way to play.

depending on how large the community is, I don't remember that well it's been a long time since I played it, but there may be macros to help automate some of the stuff. The MTG table I found had button macros to automate some little annoyances like untapping land and creatures.

Yh, but take solice in the fact that in VR there's nothing stopping you from yeeting the pieces in to space.

I don't know if that one is in the base game but a ton of stuff is locked behind DLC packs.

Okay so my friend and I did do a match of Epic Duels and we had fun. I kinda feel like my complaints were just stupid now. This will work out just fine, but in person will be preferred even if the expansion characters are being played with cheap computer printouts we hand cut.

One thing is you definitely need some way to speak to the other person. We just used landline telephones(LOL living at home with our moms), but without a mic or something, it would be such a PITA with just text since you kinda need to speak your actions as the game doesn't interpret you as playing Epic Duels.
