About to skip my once-a-week creative writing class because I put off my critiques and line edits and am too ashamed to come to class empty handed
In person classes required me to get out of bed and engage mentally with coursework without distractions. I am very efficient with learning and coursework; I can internalize rules and information with minimal time commitment as long as I have at least one homework of direct hands on practice. But that efficiency has led to laziness. I've never had a system in place to make sure my stuff gets done on time. I just procrastinate until shortly before the due date, and then finish it because I'm just really good at doing that. But my brain was in the wrong space this time. Acting like I was in W101 and not W301. Two ten page stories to analyze and critique. I gave myself an HOUR BEFORE CLASS to do that, to say nothing of the asynchronous lecture video and reading assignment. I'm a total idiot. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

One thing I've learned in grad school is that motivation comes and goes, so you can't rely on it if you need to be consistently productive.
