Just 25% off...but I've been wanting to play so it's tempting. I don't usually buy games for unless they're at least 50% off :/

It's a good game, though. I hate recommending expensive games due to the chance the person hates the game I'm recommending, so take this all with a grain of salt but here are my takeaways:

Solid third-person open world action. Doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it does offer a fun, engaging experience. If I had to compare, I'd say it's along the lines of an Assassin's Creed or open world Arkham title, but that's a bit of a stretch. It does just enough to differentiate itself from those titles, but you'll see similarities in how you open up the map, collect things, and how the combat relies on parries and counterattacks made popular with the aforementioned games. With regards to the combat, there is no lock-on target ability, so you have to control the camera while facing down multiple opponents, which takes some getting used to. Also, the timing on parries and counters has a bit of a learning curve, and failure to time properly is fairly punishing even on Normal

Don't recall how long it took me to 100% the game (on Normal) but I'd conservatively say 40+ hours. That's with exploring the map and doing sidequests, which leads me to my next point:

Sidequests actually matter. They're more than mere experience point distractions. You can unlock weapons and equipment and upgrade materials by doing them. Some of those weapons and equipment can fundamentally alter how you play the game. And they're pretty fun and add cohesively to the overall narrative.

Story is decent, and character development is pretty good. As much as it is a fairly straightforward tale of revenge and winning back your besieged country, it's a story of a man struggling with the notion of abandoning his code of honor in order to use any means necessary to accomplish his goals, and the effect that struggle with finding balance with his code and his "evolution" has on himself and those close to him.

The world of Tsushima is stunningly gorgeous. Can't emphasize that enough. Particularly in the first two acts, I found myself stopping to take in my surroundings every time I crested a hill or made my way around some rocky outcropping to open up a new area I haven't visited. Absolutely beautiful vistas.

Music is great. Subtle and ambient at times, which helps set the mood. Voice acting is solid, though I will say that I played in Japanese with subtitles to increase my immersion. I don't speak a lick of Japanese, so when I say voice acting is great, I mean more that it sounded good. A Japanese speaker would hear things I won't. I can't speak to how authentic or genuine the acting is, but it sounded good to me.

If I think of something else worth mentioning I'll post later. And I'll answer any questions you have. There is a thread about this game with a lot of info, unless it purged. But it may be spoilery (can't remember all the posts in it) so be wary if spoilers aren't your thing

That's a good policy to have in general. Basically the only games I pay full price for/buy day one are my absolute favorite series, like Kingdom Hearts. Otherwise I have no problem waiting for a lower price. Hell, I held off on getting a PS4 at all until it was like $100 on Black Friday.

I think it's a really fun game with some of the most beautiful looking open world in gaming history. Especially the first 2 (of 3) zones. The combat is basically just an improved ass creed combat system but it's pretty fun even if not overly complex. The story is surprisingly good. Stealth and terror are OP but fun.
