Welcome to the King of Fighters 2020 (NOT MERCS) Simulated Character Battle Tournament!

The game is simple. The two* listed characters are placed in an (imaginary) location with a variety of (imaginary) environments, kind of like a picture in a child's schoolbook that describes different types of geological features. Within a ten mile radius, there is an (imaginary) urban downtown, exurbs, plains, snow-clad mountains at the edge, dry plains, etc. Fighters start wherever is most appropriate for them, but feel increasingly compelled to seek out their opponent and fight. Strong-willed fighters can try to hold out in their chosen environment for longer... eventually, all will succumb and actively search for the other to battle.

To participate, just vote in bold for whichever character you believe will win. Giving reasoning is optional, but please be polite and read what others have said and carefully make your decision. I'll ping the nominators (they can opt out) to give arguments if they wish.

All-seeing eye tips this towards Star for me, both have a lot of ways that they could easily beat the other but only one of them has basically a free first strike

I don't really understand The Boss in this, because it says the powers in the "real world endgame" but Saints Row 3 (in the real world) didn't have powers, and Saints Row 4 with powers is in the simulation

I think simulation Boss from SR4 wins this but SR3 boss shouldn't even be in this tier

Do they? I thought they only had the iron man suit to loosely replicate it and apparently that isn't allowed (at least I am assuming it is referring to the suit when it says "mecha" in the description?). I didn't play the DLC so I could be wrong

With suit its more even but even then Star is packing too much firepower with a bunch of other stuff like potential time stop and is essentially guaranteed the ambush. She also has dimensional portal shenanigans which I don't think Boss has an answer for.

Gold Star is pretty tanky and is pretty busted at magic capable of freezing time for the entire world and straight up recreating the entire realm of magic by herself (the source of all magic for the multiverse). Also Boss is most definitely not getting the opening strike here. All Seeing Eye and portals are going to give Star the ambush factor and she can likely destroy their armor leaving them powerless as the powers aren't intrinsic to The Boss. She could also just portal them into the space between dimensions as well

Looking at a respect thread, it seems difficult to know what Star would do because she has so much versatility. She has a ton of offensive spells, ranging from pretty standard beam and wind attacks, to more goofy stuff (firing a bunch of narwhals or a wave of syrup at her enemies). She has cc in the form of a spell that encases enemies in ice. She has telekinesis and teleportation. She can transform objects, seemingly arbitrarily - so, in theory, she could just transform the Boss's suit into not-a-suit; though I don't know if she would think to do this. She can also summon a lot of adds.

Teleport away? TK herself a shield? Turn the bullets into marshmallows?

Granted a lot of her spellcasting seems to involve dramatic wand-waving and incantations, so if she's being held in place I'm not entirely sure what she can do.

The hand waves aren't really necessary. She's just point and blasted as well as done AOEs before from what I recall.

Boss is strong with armor. The problem is their power is entirely reliant on the armor itself which Star has various means of screwing up either through brute force power or other magical means. She has a LOT of spells and affects to work with ranging from potential time stop, transmutation (can just turn em into a carrot), forceful hallucinations, freezing (capable of neutralizing a demon with fire powers), extreme damage (apparently Mega-Explosive Crystal Laser is capable of neutralizing planets according to the book), just opening up a dimensional rift under them and winning via ring out etc.

With All Seeing Eye, Star is going to know where The Boss is and can portal to them suddenly for easy ambush. Although Star is pretty tanky in her own right (getting smashed directly around on castle walls by a giant soul eating magical royal monster along with other stuff on top of magical defenses like bubble shields etc) I think Shonen put it best. They both have a lot of ways to deal with each other, but Star has the guaranteed ambush and can deal with em in a lot more ways. Her powers are also tied to her while Boss's isn't and can be rendered relatively helpless.

Tentative Star vote. If she can scry and prep for a fight, I feel she might have a decent shot at the boss. My take is that the Boss wins if she gets the Dubstep Gun or TK holds off, but loses in a straight up fight because Star is better overall. Would be open to being swayed by counterarguments though.
