You must be confusing it with Icelandic. Dutch looks nothing like that

All things being equal, and not including Scots or Frisian, it's generally the easiest language for an English speaker to learn. It's not that weird really. Its shared Germanic roots will become clearer as you study it, should you choose to do so. And yeah Dutch doesn't look anything like that lol

Dutch is easy when you can boil the language down to a few well used words:

  1. I have a plan
  2. I have a god damned plan
  3. have some god damned faith, Arthur
  4. Arthur
  5. Are you with me or against me
  6. Arthur
  7. Plan

Geel goed! Ik spreek een beetje Nederlands.
very good! I speak a little Dutch. I understand more than I speak. Step mom is Dutch and have been over there (Netherlands) several times. Duolingo is pretty good for getting your feet wet.

Most people in Holland speak English though.

Also, if you ever decide to take up German or one of the North Germanic languages, having a foundation in both English and Dutch would be a massive boon.

As jon said, Duolingo is a good way to get your feet wet and see how you feel about the language. It cannot and will not take you far, but you'll acquire some basic foundational grammar and vocab, and can spring off from there to better methods.

I beg to differ. I would place them equally. Well, German and its cases, idk.
