Yeah I thought that was a possibility too, but was still hopefully for a 'mesh save. Not that I'll mind a Kefka winner (definitely the heavy favourite atm) but that would've been a huge upset elim.

There is a bad path for squall if none of the other characters that are shoring up his extra support dont die.

But Tifa and Kefka probably have it even rougher in that regard.

Looks like I made the right call with the NR then!

It's weird how quickly characters bounce from safety to imminent danger from round to round, guess it doesn't help that a lot of the Tidus likers are prioritising Seymour and aside from Moonroof the others aren't here every round.

Alright still a lot of gray, lots of unknowns, lots of randomness... but this is the hot new, revised top 5 predictions

-Seymour drops out from the original predix... I still want to believe but I'm just not seeing, it but a good-enough shift of "gray" in his direction could still do it
-Red XIII replicates last year's run and actually makes the top 5 this time (this is the softest of the top 5 predix)
-Cecil/Kain consolidation doesn't happen and they go out separately
-Delita... just wait. This is a real dark horse. I see it happening. When he makes the top 5, you can blame yourself or God for letting it happen.

Yeah honestly Red XIII's support seems so different from the waifu duo that I can see him and one of the two in the top five

It reminds me in some way of Fang's run

I'm sad I missed the Tidus/Kefka final, I still can't quite believe Tidus won that! I figure pretty much everybody likes Kefka and Tidus is so divisive that it'd be a no-brainer, but very glad to be wrong.

Delita? Red over the other girls/dog? No Cecil despite him doing so well so far? Dropping Seymour from your early hot predix? I clearly still have a lot to learn from you, Martin. Who would you have winning from that top 5?

I definitely think we are more geared to having really strong characters instead of more jokey entrants though, just because rounds have been so much faster than the last two years since everyone is participating because of people staying home etc

I think it's just that Kefka got top 5 the last couple times

but the landscape feels a little bit different since other VI characters are still around, I guess I can see Celes be the last VI but I think a lot more has to happen for that to be the case. The next couple of elims probably decide the direction of the contest

Well at a basic level, Locke seems to be the next one out of the FF6 crew, and Kefka saves will outnumber Celes saves at that point. I feel like FF6 consolidation around Kefka is going to happen based on what I've seen so far, but that is an assumption. As mentioned earlier, he was 3rd two years ago and 4th lats year (due to hinky circumstances).

But Kefka also has a better story and contest history. If the winner this year wasn't him or Squall I'd probably be disappointed (Tifa doesn't enter that equation at all and anyone predicting deep runs for her is missing the thread she's hanging by... though of course I'd take her miracle win over either of them)

Yeah, it is based on my belief of trends that will happen. There were assumptions made before - "made up stuff" if you will - that clearly haven't panned out and user activity in the contest also changes things. You update your assumptions and you know, the passage of time of 63 rounds. Shit happens.

Delita has a good base in place and I'm assuming some upcoming eliminations redirecting support his way. Red is replicating last year's run (which essentially was top 5 if shenanigans didn't happen). Now maybe some people who saved him last year don't this year but I see it being sufficiently intact (with a pickup or two). Came close the other day, though... so close.

I could end up 0/5 but you know, I like the metagame, I like making predictions. I like to think I can see how the winds are blowing in these contests. We'll see what happens. But certainly this is loaded with assumptions and unknowns so yeah, not like this is a scientific model or anything.

Case in point, I have no idea what FBike and burke are thinking so they're not factored into anything I've done, and that's 6 saves between them every time. If they collectively want to drive a character of their choice deeper (other than Edea), they could totally shift the entire game. They can support a character who has no chance and keep them alive past their point of natural death, and then anything's possible.

I... don't believe they're Tifa fans.

Locke is starting to look a bit more vulnerable. If Locke goes out before Kefka, that will likely put Kefka ahead of Celes. I think Kefka either finishes in the 1-5 range or the 16-20 range at this point.
