Hallmark Channel will have a massive 40 CHRISTMAS movies this year and they are all filming or already finished with more than half filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia after hollywood productions reopened while the rest were filmed elsewhere in Canada and a few were in parts of the United States.

But this year will be much different as the network is known to cater to Christian Conservatives for it's family friendly movies with a mostly white lead cast.

Now they stepped up their diverse movie lineup and have gone the route of Lifetime to cater to a wider audience as this year there will now be movies with lead casts who are Gay, Lesbian and even INTER-RACIAL leads which has never happened for the network.

Jonathan Bennett who himself is Gay and I-Zombie's Robert Buckley will star in a new hallmark movie this Christmas about a gay couple who are trying to adopt their first child and will start production in Vancouver.

Alvina August and Eion Bailey, the first inter-racial couple lead for a hallmark movie about a man and his son moving into a new town after the death of his wife and will meet a woman working at a bakery who become close.

The second inter-racial movie this christmas will star Supergirl's Julie Gonzalo and Ronnie Rowe Jr about a woman who travels to Alaska to find the perfect flower for a client and finds love with a handsome local.

Hallmark is making good on their promise for diversity and this will be a record for the books

The Black chick is super light-skinned. She's a different skin color, obviously, but only about 30% darker than I am and I'm White. She also has an Anglo hairstyle.

Hallmark is trying to play it safe. They'll probably wind up pissing off the far right and the far left with that pairing.

Colorism is a whole new can of worms. If a light-skinned Black actor gets a choice role, people claim that Hollywood is setting up a dynamic where light-skinned characters are doctors and protagonists while dark-skinned characters are pimps, crooks, and druggies. And if you make it so that only dark-skinned actors can get roles, then you're actively discriminating against Black actors with lighter skin tones.

It's a difficult thing to try and juggle and it's mostly a blind spot for White directors and casting agents.
