Some of the rankings are not bad, but it's his explanation that's terrible. Samurais are really slow, and he calls them super fast. He think Ignore Height is better than Teleport. He thinks % status effects are better than a Dancer hitting them all the time. Says Squire is only useful for AP Plus, but you really want that Accumulate, tbh.

He said he's played it a lot, but just spit out nothing but nonsense, lol

Teleport has a failure chance, and the game doesn't let the player access Teleport 2 without a gameshark.

Only if you move outside of your range. So you get Ignore Height + Teleport + The option to try to go further than you can. There is almost never a good reason to think Ignore Height is better than Teleport if you can simply look at the number next to your Move/Jump and count

See, Calculator's skill is absolutely busted, but the class itself is garbage. You get the skill and give it to a black mage or summoner.

No, you give it to Uber Squire Ramza that has Female MA growth and can equip Excalibur to not only give you Haste, but also boost CT4 Holy. It's not like you're going to hit harder than 999, so why would you need extra MA the Wizard growth gives you?

Yeah I saw that the other day. Priest at 18 was kind of a wtf. I agree chemists are better for healing, but saying they're worse than base squires and archers is just wrong.

Yeah, you might heal the enemy. Learn to look at the fn turn order. Yeah, Item is more reliable. But Priest > Squire or a Samurai

His biggest mistake is Samurai imo.

Not so great, not worth unlocking. Buying the katanas. Nor giving it to a Wizard etc.

Anyway, the big issue in ranking classes is what exactly are we ranking?

It reminds me of 2000 when I was debating with people to do an idea I had of playing as single class challenges to test and experience the class with the idea of ranking the classes (SCC didn't get player made rules crystalized until like a year later) mostly in debate with a player at the forum

^ I may have gotten the initial idea from reading his FAQs and then applying the idea to FFT.

Single class party challenges mostly started with me disparaging the Archer class as garbage, and then comparing them with other single class party challenges. (along with speed run ideas)

Unfortunately my idea of single class parties didn't give the full breadth of what it means to be "a good class", I later thought.

Like what? Class unlocking and retraining. (this was years before the JP scroll glitch was found) So IMO, a class like Priest is extremely outclassed by the simple Chemist.

A simple but extreme analogy is that while Cloud may be powerful in a technical sense... he appears so late, at level 1, and is a charge class, that any strengths he might have are simply unneeded any more.

My thinking on that is basically what I think of when I compare Preist to Chemist (but much less extreme).

The speed, the staves, the charging, etc, all pale to the instant item healing, no mp (harder to use on other classes) auto-potion, and instant access. Make priest easily inferior to Chemists.

No amount of Holy is gonna change that. (even with Math. It's not like Holy is the only elemental absorbing spell math can use)

Item = gifts for friendlies
Throw = "gifts" for enemies

Not a bad idea. Maybe take Tame and try and get some monsters. This is a solo run, but I can just kill them all after the fights. Since I talked shit about Fly earlier, I could take that since it kind of fits the lore.

So the question is, which class do I go with? Ninja or Chemist? Ninja fits the lore better since Santa can zip around the world faster than the speed of light. Chemists get Guns which takes better advantage of Fly [I think, I know a lot about FFT, but not everything. I think you can only Throw so far down, but you can shoot any length, but I could be wrong]

The only thing that prevents them from solo'ing the game is they're not immune to status effects. They have fantastic growths and can be used really well with a lot of skills. Just be smart with them
