If Microsoft STILL comes in 3rd in the next gen console wars, should they pack it up?


People are saying this is Microsoft's essentially last chance after paying more than 7 billion for a big gaming company to get to #1 or at least beat Sony in this next-gen of console wars to make the return of investment important for them.

They knew Microsoft needed to get better first party exclusives as Halo is no longer the system seller it used to be and essentially, this is their last chance to either get #1 or at least beat Sony in this console war..

They didn't just need to win in the North American market but also make strides in the European market where Sony still has a stranglehold in.

So do you think this is their last chance?

Should they? From a financial perspective, if they're still making a good amount of money, it doesn't matter where they finish (and, as a company, that's all that matters at the end of the day). However, for the past few generations, Sony and Microsoft have basically done the same shit so there's not a lot of need for both of them.

However, even if Microsoft went away, odds are somebody else would come along to replace them.
