If one of them came out supporting Trump youd claim they were exercising their first amendment rights.

Ironically, you're telling me to stop having opinions about other people having opinions. It's a pretty silly argument, inherently, and I don't think it's worth discussing.

Because at the end of the day, people like it when celebrities agree with them and preach about it--and they dislike it when celebrities disagree with them and preach about it. It's natural. You want more people speaking for "your team" and fewer people speaking for "their team."

And if you're just watching a sports game of some kind, and somebody makes some big deal about a by-the-numbers generic political opinion from the other side that you've heard a trillion times before, you're probably going to be annoyed.

Usually the people who bitch about politics in media are the ones affected the least by said politics, it just conflicts with their worldview that everything is actually great

Speaking out against issues in society is only a political issue to those who see nothing wrong with society

Is removing confederate flags "making a big deal"? As in, is their presence so key to the enjoyment of Nascar driving?

Key distinction
It's easy to speak support about celebrities and politics when you're part of the left, given that most extremely rich and famous people lean left. If it were the other way around, would you be so supportive?

For example, how do you feel about James Woods?

Where are all these unsolicited political opinions in the middle of a sporting event that are made a big deal of? Because I watch literally all the sports and can't think of one pretty much ever.

I've watched NASCAR for 20 years despite being me. Just because you can't handle seeing differing opinions before and after games doesn't mean you can project it onto me. I don't have those hang ups.

And birth truly is a privilege. I had no control over being born and I wouldn't know what I was missing if I was killed pre-birth.

Yeah the get politics out of sports seems to me to be a dog whistle of complacency if not endorsement of what is ever being protested. In NZ once upon a time there were massive protests against South Africa's apartheid policy when the Springboks (south African rugby team) came to play in nz. Admittedly this was somewhat more overt because south Africa was trying to export apartheid demanding the new Zealand team basically be whites only for the matches, but you still had "keep politics out of sports" types even back then despite the fact south Africa had already brought the politics into it

"shut up and dribble" is a rude ass command so expect people to respond in kind.

"is Steve Nash wrong to accept the Nets head coach job" and shit like that is dumb, but using a platform to protest the every day cadence of atrocities in this country that people would rather not be talked about is not.

I don't really care about people giving their stance on award shows. Its another platform for them to use like social media. I think the bigger issue with the shows is they are a giant circle jerk but that's just me.

Sports I would prefer if they actually just skipped all semantics at the beginning and just get to the game. They say it starts at 8 but its really like 8:20 because we have to go through honoring people and the anthem. That said I would also rather keep their opinions on politics out of the actual game, during the time with media don't care, go ham on it. Same with out of game, use your status to promote whatever you want. But watching the actual product I just want the product...take out the commentators too.
