My older brother got paddled once for shooting a rubber band at a radio when he was in this elementary school, I got paddled because my teacher thought I cursed at her once (I didn't. I was in a accident where I bit off a tiny piece of my tongue. I had trouble sounding out words that started with a S back then. Dumb-ass teacher thought I said "shit", =/). It became a huge problem at this particular school at some point after I moved on to middle school because eventually word got out that minority kids were getting paddled at a overwhelmingly huge rate over white kids and minority parents was getting fed up with their shit. (Basically "if my kid did something where they needed to be spanked, then I rather discipline my own kids"). She had a wooden paddle resting on the chalk tray of the blackboard that said "heat for the seat" and an anguished cartoon kids face on it. She was also dumb. This was the mid 80s and we were talking about why the dinosaurs disappeared. I said because an asteroid hit our planet. She was so snooty when she "corrected" me.
