I really liked the trailers until I got to the one where they spoke and the voice acting was just hilariously bad. Does it improve in the actual show?

The only decent voices are Weiss and Qrow imo

It's worth watching the first two series for the fight scenes but the quality went down after Monty Oum died.

The story is standard anime fair

i had the same impression, the voices sound like random youtubers who think they're way better than they are

It's not a bad series.

Well Yang's voice actor has been criticized because she's the only one who doesn't actually change her voice for her character. Also the cheesy puns lol. The voices aren't really bad in the show though.

The show is pretty good though. I like the music, although it might not be for everyone. Fun fact: The singer for most of the songs is the daughter of the composer :3

...And if my math is right, she sang the opening song for the first season when she was 14.

I hated it. The artstyle is bad. The characters are all kinda lame. I just couldnt do it.

The voice acting was kinda bad in the beginning and so was the animation, because they had a budget of like 5$ lol.

Seriously, some of the voice actors were people from around the office because thats all they could afford. But it improves tremendously, as does the animation.

People day the fight scenes take a dive after Monty dies, but I did agree. Theyre not Monty good, but theyre not bad.

The soundtrack is god tier. Full stop. Like everyday playlist good. Jeff Williams is the composer, and as a poster mentioned above, does most of the vocals with his daughter Casey. His wife is on a few tracks as well. Top notch musicality.

oh and the weapon designs. Awesome. Everything is a gun.

Lol Im rambling now, but yes its worth it.

I thought it was pretty enjoyable and really dig the music as well. Though I also enjoy the Tales Of games in terms of story and characters when a lot of people rip on them, and I'd say RWBY has a similar feel to one of those games (but in a show format).

You've seen the best of it with the trailers. There are still great fight scenes in the show, but you can easily find clipshows of those.

the story is an absolute mess. the world is super inconsistent. the character development sucks, and the power system is also bad and super inconsistent

in the later seasons they also try to do a plot involving a civil rights movement that they pretty clearly were not properly equipped to address. it's handled very, very badly

it feels like they took a bunch of the aesthetics and ideas from like Avatar: The Last Airbender and Cowboy Bebop without understanding what made them good. if you want my recommendation, watch those instead.

Nah. The show peaked with the four character trailers, and the only good thing about the show, the admittedly very well-choreographed fights, was entirely due to Monty Oum and went away with his passing. You might be able to tolerate the first season or two for that alone, but you'd have to get through some otherwise mediocre to poor voice acting, music (especially lyrical singing, the main singer is maybe good at a rural high school standard), pacing, and overall story.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

The combat sequences are entertaining in season 1 and 2 but then the guy who designed them passed away and the show didn't really recover in that regard until season 6.

As for the plot and characters, they're about as cheesy as in the voiced portion of the trailers. And you don't get any meaningful insight as to what the story's about until over halfway through the show.

I think only the first season showed potential. It was not great, but there was something there. It all went down hill after that, IMO.

Edit: I have not watched the most recent episodes, so maybe it got better.

I feel the show was really hurt by lack of budget early on and then of course Montys death after the first few seasons.

I enjoyed the first few seasons

they should have just not bothered making a show and just kept it to standalone fights like most of monty's stuff

just watch the early season fights and don't put yourself through anything else. the non-fight animation, writing and voice work is incredibly amateurish and not in an endearing way
